Located at 6163 9th Ave N in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Boley Neighborhood Store offers a truly interesting experience for anyone who enjoys thrift shopping or browsing through unique and vintage finds. While our visit to the store was a mixed bag, there were certainly some highlights worth mentioning—alongside a few areas where improvements could make the experience much more inviting and worthwhile.

From the outside, the store appears modest, but once you step inside, you’re greeted with an impressive range of items. On Rod Cam, we got a closer look at some of the standout pieces and hidden gems scattered throughout the store. There’s a wide selection of furniture, home goods, clothing, books, and collectible knickknacks. Some of the inventory is genuinely fascinating—items you don’t typically find in larger chain thrift stores. If you’re the kind of shopper who loves discovering one-of-a-kind treasures, Boley certainly has potential.

However, one of the first things we noticed was the disorganization of the merchandise. Many shelves and aisles appeared cluttered, with items piled or bunched together without any clear sense of order. It made browsing a little overwhelming, and in some areas, you really had to dig through messy arrangements to see what was available. A more structured layout or frequent tidying from staff would go a long way in improving the shopping experience.

Speaking of the staff, that was another element of the store that left something to be desired. According to Rod’s on-site impressions, customer service wasn’t exactly a highlight. There was a noticeable lack of warm greetings or helpful engagement from employees. In fact, there weren’t many friendly staff faces to be seen at all. While we understand it can get busy, even a simple acknowledgment or assistance could help make shoppers feel more welcome and valued.

One of the biggest concerns we had during the visit was the pricing of the items. Although it’s a nonprofit thrift store—presumably supporting a good cause—the prices on many products felt extremely high. In several cases, items were marked at values far beyond what you’d expect in a secondhand store. Some pieces were so overpriced that it would have made more sense to buy something new from a department store or online. For shoppers hoping to save money or score a good deal, Boley’s pricing structure might come as a disappointment.

That said, the store does have charm. It’s clear that they’ve acquired a variety of interesting goods, and for collectors or curious browsers, it might still be worth a visit. The ambiance, despite the clutter, has a nostalgic appeal that makes you feel like you’re stepping into a treasure chest. You just have to be willing to hunt a bit.

Overall, our experience at Boley Neighborhood Store was an insightful one. We appreciated being able to get an inside look through Rod Cam, which helped showcase the store’s potential and some of the standout items. However, between the disorganization, lack of customer engagement, and the surprisingly high prices, it left us questioning whether it was worth the trip—or if a better experience might be found elsewhere.

Still, for locals or die-hard thrifters who enjoy the search and are willing to overlook a few shortcomings, Boley could be worth checking out. Just know what you’re walking into and manage your expectations.
