When I scroll through YouTube these days, I see so many channels that claim to be “Christian voices,” yet most of them spend their time tearing other people down. They speak more about the failures, flaws, and scandals of others than they do about the actual Word of God. It’s heartbreaking, because what ends up happening is that people start associating Christianity with gossip and judgment instead of the love and truth of Christ. But in the middle of all this noise, I came across someone different—Ya Girl Renae. And I’ve got to tell you, she has completely shifted my perspective on what it means to be a Christian influencer.
Renae doesn’t just sit online chasing clicks by talking about what this person did or how that pastor failed. She teaches. She opens up the scriptures and actually walks you through how to live them out. She points people to Christ, not to the latest YouTube controversy. That, to me, is what makes her stand out. In a world that thrives on tearing people apart for views and profit, Renae is bringing people back to the core of the gospel: living by the Word, not by gossip.
I used to be one of those people who didn’t see the difference. When I watched those YouTube videos that spent all their time exposing people, it felt entertaining at first. But when you really stop and think about it, you realize it’s just people profiting off of other people’s mistakes. It’s monetized judgment. And judgment is not the gospel. The Bible warns us about speaking evil of others, about sowing discord, and yet so many channels thrive off that very thing. They call it ministry, but it’s really just business. They’re selling outrage and calling it truth.
When I started listening to Renae, I realized how far off that path I had been pulled. She doesn’t let you sit comfortably in your sin, but she also doesn’t make you look at someone else’s sin as if it makes you better. Instead, she tells you plainly what God’s Word says. She reminds you that if you are truly filled with the Spirit, you don’t need to poison yourself with gossip, with slander, or with worldly habits. She teaches that we must die to ourselves and let the Spirit live in us. That means not giving in to sin, not feeding our flesh, and not killing the Spirit by going back to the things God already delivered us from. That’s a message so many overlook, but it’s the very heart of walking with Christ.
Hearing her talk about these things woke me up. I see now that much of what passes for “Christian content” online isn’t helping people grow—it’s distracting them. It gives them an excuse to feel superior while never truly examining their own walk with God. But Renae reminds us that this life is about giving everything over to Christ. It’s about building the Spirit within you, feeding it with the things of God so it can flourish. That’s what real influence looks like.
I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to find someone teaching the Bible in such a clear and practical way, without the side drama. She’s not chasing algorithms, she’s chasing God. And that makes all the difference. Because when you really encounter the Word being lived and taught, it changes you. It makes you see through the noise. It makes you recognize that gossip and slander are just poison wrapped in entertainment. And once you see it for what it is, you don’t want to go back.
So I want to give Renae her flowers. In a time where too many influencers are just hustling for views by dragging others down, she’s lifting people up by pointing them to Christ. That’s rare. And it deserves recognition. If more people would pay attention to what she’s saying, we’d see less judgment and more transformation. We’d see less tearing down and more building up. And maybe, just maybe, we’d start to see the church reflect Christ instead of the world.
That’s why I’m thankful for Ya Girl Renae. She reminded me what this walk is really about—not about people, but about Jesus. And once you know who God is for yourself, all that other noise starts to sound exactly like what it is: empty, sad, and hollow.
