I don’t even know how to feel about YouTube anymore. Honestly, it breaks my heart because this used to be my favorite platform — a place where real people shared their real stories. But lately, it’s like everything’s been taken over by machines. Every time I scroll, it’s another AI-generated video, some robotic voice reading a script, or a fake influencer that looks almost human but not quite right. It’s scary how fast this has changed.
I remember when YouTube was about creativity — when people made content that reflected their lives, their struggles, and their passions. You could find tutorials, heartfelt vlogs, deep discussions, and genuine opinions. Now? It feels like an AI factory. It’s like YouTube forgot what made it special in the first place.
The truth is, AI is ruining YouTube. I said it. You can tell me I’m overreacting, but just spend ten minutes scrolling through the platform and tell me you don’t see it. You’ll find videos where the people’s faces barely move in sync with their voices, or “influencers” that don’t even exist. And the scariest part? These videos are being promoted more than real creators. YouTube’s own system seems to favor AI-generated content because it can be pumped out faster, cheaper, and in larger quantities than anything a real person could make.
That’s not creativity — that’s manipulation.
And this all started when YouTube tried to compete with TikTok. That was the biggest mistake they ever made. YouTube was supposed to be the place for long-form, meaningful content. It wasn’t about chasing trends or going viral overnight. It was about building a community. But instead of holding on to that, they decided they wanted to be TikTok 2.0. Now we have endless “Shorts” videos, repetitive AI clips, and barely any authenticity left.
When I think about it, this change isn’t just disappointing — it’s depressing. YouTube doesn’t feel like YouTube anymore. I used to spend hours watching creators who felt like friends. I learned from them, I laughed with them, I cried with them. But now, I scroll for minutes and see nothing but fake smiles, robotic narrations, and ads that don’t even seem real. Half the time, the “people” in those ads aren’t even human — their faces glitch, their voices sound off, and yet YouTube lets it all run freely.
What’s worse is that when real people speak up about it — when they say, “Hey, this isn’t right,” or “We want authenticity again,” — those voices get buried. I’ve seen creators get shadow banned or quietly pushed out of the algorithm for talking about how bad things have gotten. YouTube doesn’t want to hear the truth. They’d rather protect the illusion that everything’s fine while the platform slowly loses its soul.
And maybe that’s what hurts most. Because for people like me who grew up with YouTube, it wasn’t just entertainment — it was connection. It was the one place online where you could be yourself and be seen. Now it’s all about artificial engagement and digital perfection. It’s not about us anymore. It’s about numbers, views, and control.
I don’t know where YouTube is headed, but if they keep letting AI run wild, there won’t be anything left worth saving. People are already tuning out. We can tell when something isn’t real, and no one wants to watch a computer pretend to have feelings.
I miss the old YouTube — the real faces, the real conversations, the raw and imperfect content that made it feel alive. Now it’s cold. It’s empty. And as sad as it is to say, maybe it’s time to start looking for something else. Because the YouTube we loved? It’s gone — buried somewhere under layers of AI voices and fake smiles.
