Incident 04/06/2026

Okay, I just stepped outside today (April 6th), and my azaleas are in FULL bloom. I’m talking bright, full, colorful like something out of a magazine. I honestly had to stop and just stare for a minute because they look that good.
But now I’m a little stressed…

I’ve been hearing that azaleas don’t last long, and I really wanted my yard to stay looking like this for a while. It finally feels like everything is coming together outside, and now I’m worried it’s going to fade too fast. I wish I could show y’all in person because the close-up details are beautiful. Every bush is full, no empty spots, just straight color everywhere.
So now I’m wondering—how long do they actually stay like this? Days? Weeks? And is there anything I can do to make the blooms last longer? Because I’m not ready for this to be over already 😩

I know exactly that feeling you step outside and everything looks perfect, and you just want it to stay like that for as long as possible. The truth is, azaleas usually bloom for about 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the weather. If temperatures stay cooler, they can last a little longer. But if it gets hot quickly, the blooms can fade faster than expected.
The good news is what you’re seeing right now—that full, colorful look—is exactly what healthy azaleas are supposed to do. So you’re clearly doing something right. If you want to stretch the bloom time a bit, try to keep them well-watered (but not soaked), especially if the weather warms up. Also, avoid too much direct harsh afternoon sun if possible, because heat can make the flowers drop faster.
Even when the blooms fall, the plant itself stays green and can still look nice in your yard. And here’s the best part they’ll come back every year, sometimes even fuller. So enjoy this moment now you earned it 🌸
