At this point, somebody needs to explain what is going on with these water bills in Bolton, North Carolina, because people cannot continue watching their everyday bills go higher and higher without getting some real answers. I’m glad these issues can be brought before town officials because residents deserve to know exactly what they’re paying for and why their bills are costing so much.

Everything is already expensive. People are paying more for groceries, electricity, insurance, gas, housing, and practically everything else. Now we’re supposed to just accept extremely high water bills too? Water is not some luxury that people can decide they don’t need this month. People need water to cook, bathe, wash clothes, clean their homes, and take care of their families. When something as basic as water starts becoming another bill that people are afraid to open, we have a problem.

And I really want somebody to break these bills down in plain English. Don’t just tell residents that costs have increased. Show people exactly what increased. Did the water rate go up? Did the sewer rate go up? Are there new fees? Are infrastructure expenses being passed down to residents? Did somebody’s actual water usage increase, or are people paying considerably more for roughly the same amount of water they were already using?

There are also going to be questions about what’s happening nationally. People are blaming everything from inflation and higher operating costs to policies coming out of Washington, including decisions under the Trump administration. If federal policies are actually contributing to higher costs for local utilities, then show residents exactly how. And if they aren’t responsible for these particular increases, explain what is responsible. People are tired of political talking points from every direction. We want to know where the money is going.

That’s why these public meetings matter. Residents need to show up, ask questions, bring their bills, compare what they were paying before with what they’re paying now, and make officials explain the numbers. If somebody’s bill jumped dramatically while their household and water usage remained basically the same, they deserve an explanation.

People work too hard for their money to simply be told, “Your bill went up, so pay it.” No. Tell us why it went up. Tell us what changed. Tell us whether another increase is coming. Tell us what residents can do if they believe their meter or bill is wrong. And most importantly, tell us what is being done to keep water affordable for the people who actually live here.

Bolton is a small community, and that’s exactly why these increases can hit families so hard. When you’re already stretching your paycheck across groceries, electricity, insurance, transportation, and everything else, another major utility bill isn’t something you can just shrug off.

Bolton residents, what are YOUR water bills looking like? Have you noticed a major increase? How much were you paying before compared with what you’re paying now? Let’s start comparing these bills because something needs to be explained.

I donโ€™t care whether the increase is coming from local decisions, federal policies, infrastructure costs, inflation, or something else. Just tell residents the truth about why theyโ€™re paying more. Thatโ€™s what people really want to know.

This is exactly why people need to attend these town meetings and ASK QUESTIONS. Bring your water bills with you and ask officials to explain every charge. Don’t just complain at home. Make them explain it publicly.

Everything is going up except peopleโ€™s paychecks! Groceries are higher, electricity is higher, insurance is higher, and now people are worried about their water bills. Something has got to give because regular working families canโ€™t keep absorbing increase after increase.

I would definitely encourage everybody in Bolton to start comparing their current water bills with their older ones. Look at the actual usage and the fees because if youโ€™re using around the same amount of water but paying significantly more, I would want to know exactly why.๐ŸคฃNothing but the Orange manโ€ฆโ€ฆ..
