The Power of Belief: Trusting God When You Can’t See the Way
Faith isn’t just a word we throw around in church. It’s not just a feeling we have on a good day. Faith is the foundation of our entire walk with God. In Hebrews 11:1, the Bible tells us:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
That means even when we can’t see the outcome, even when we don’t feel it or understand it — we believe. Faith is choosing to trust that God is working it out behind the scenes, even if the scene in front of us looks broken.
Too often, we ask God for things in prayer and wonder why the answer hasn’t come. We say, “God, You said if I ask, it will be given.” And that’s true — Scripture makes that promise clear. Jesus said in John 14:13, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” But here’s where many of us miss it: we ask, but we don’t truly believe. Faith isn’t just asking. It’s believing that what God said is already done. It’s standing firm when everything around you says give up. It’s keeping your heart set on God’s truth when your eyes can’t see the answer.
Many of us fail to see God’s power move in our situation because deep down, we don’t believe He will move. We speak words of faith with our mouths, but our hearts are heavy with doubt. We say “God will make a way,” but we panic the moment trouble shows up. Faith says, “I believe in the way, even when I don’t see the road.”
Sometimes the issue isn’t that God isn’t answering — it’s that He’s answering in a way we don’t expect. You may be praying for a relationship, a job, a breakthrough, or healing. But if what you’re asking for doesn’t align with God’s perfect will for your life, then in His love, He may say “Not that.” That doesn’t mean He’s denying you. It means He’s redirecting you toward something better.
Remember this: what you want is not always what you need. And God, as your Father, knows the difference. The truth is, God’s will is always good, even when it doesn’t feel good in the moment. If you want the world, the enemy will offer it fast — fame, money, shortcuts, pleasures. But those gifts come with a price. They’re temporary, and they rob you of true peace. But when you choose God, when you accept His gift, you receive something eternal, something real, something that grows stronger over time.
His Word says in James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” God doesn’t give broken blessings. He doesn’t give you something that will destroy you. He gives what is good — for your soul, your growth, and your purpose.
So today, go back to the basics of faith. Go back to Hebrews 11:1. Remind yourself that faith is believing before you see. It’s trusting God not because everything is perfect, but because He is perfect. Whatever you’re waiting on today — don’t stop believing. Don’t stop praying. Don’t stop trusting. If God said it, He meant it. Stand on His promise and let your belief unlock the power of heaven in your life. Because when you believe what God says — that’s when you truly begin to see what God can do.
