“Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to Him, and as was His custom, He taught them.” – Mark 10:1
Everywhere Jesus went, the people followed. It wasn’t His fame that kept them close—it was His words. In a world full of voices, His teaching cut through the noise with authority, truth, and compassion. The people knew that when Jesus spoke, their hearts were fed.
I remember a time when a close friend of mine went through a very heavy season of grief. She didn’t want to be around anyone, not even at church. But one Sunday, she reluctantly went, just to sit in the back. She told me later that as soon as the pastor began to read Scripture, she felt something shift inside her. “I didn’t need advice,” she said. “I just needed His Word.”
That’s what happened when crowds gathered around Jesus. They weren’t just looking for miracles—they were hungry for truth that would restore their souls. And that same Word is available to us today.
Sometimes, life pulls us in a hundred different directions. Work demands, family needs, financial stress, or even just the noise of social media can fill our minds. But like those crowds by the Jordan, we need to stop and gather around Jesus daily. His Word steadies us. His teaching refreshes us. His presence restores us.
Reflection: Where do you gather when you are weary? Do you turn to entertainment, distraction, or even isolation? Or do you intentionally gather around Jesus and let His words speak life into you?
Prayer: Lord, thank You that no matter where I am, I can always gather at Your feet through Your Word. Teach me to hunger for Your truth above all else. Help me shut out distractions and seek You first each day. Amen.
