Family,

I just read something that shook me to the core. A whistle-blower revealed that DOGE team members uploaded a database holding the personal information of hundreds of millions of Americans onto a cloud server that wasn’t even secure. Social Security numbers, private data, everything—just sitting there like bait for cybercriminals.

Let’s pause on that. The very agency trusted to protect us from fraud and identity theft became the open door for it. That’s not just a “mistake.” That’s a failure of duty.

It breaks my heart, because I remember when government used to feel like a place of order. Even if it wasn’t perfect, there was more accountability, more respect for the people it served. Now it feels like those in power are more careless than ever with our lives, our privacy, and our future.

And you know what? The Bible speaks directly to moments like this.
Ecclesiastes 5:8 says:
“If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher still.”

This tells me two things: (1) corruption and negligence aren’t new—this has been happening since ancient days. And (2) we must remember that God sees it all. Even when systems crumble and leaders let us down, the ultimate authority isn’t in a government agency—it’s in the hands of the Lord.

But here’s the tension: while we lean on God, we also live in this world, and that means we need to demand accountability. Citizens cannot sit back while millions of identities hang in the balance. DOGE and any agency handling our most sensitive data must be held to the strictest standards. If we don’t speak up, if we don’t call it out, then these failures will continue—and the next breach could be worse.

I share this not to stir fear, but to awaken awareness. Our Social Security numbers, our family’s information, our privacy—these are not just “files in a database.” They represent our lives.

So, let’s talk about this:

  • Do you think government negligence like this is a symptom of deeper decline?
  • Should citizens be pushing for independent oversight of how our data is handled?
  • How do we, as believers, balance trusting God with holding people accountable?

I’m frustrated, I’m saddened, but I’m also reminded: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer” (Psalm 18:2). Even when earthly institutions fail, He never will.

Kayla, you are absolutely right to sound the alarm. What DOGE allowed to happen isn’t just a technical failure—it’s a moral failure. To carelessly handle the lives of millions of Americans is a betrayal of trust, and it shows just how far our leaders have drifted from righteousness.
But I see this as more than just bad policy. The Bible tells us in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” We are destroyed when those in authority neglect wisdom, and we are destroyed when we as citizens stop holding them accountable.

We can’t put blind trust in government anymore. They are proving, over and over again, that their systems are shaky. This is why God is calling His people back to discernment and prayer. We must be watchmen on the wall, sounding the trumpet when danger comes.
At the same time, we should remember that all of this points us back to Christ. Man will fail us, but God’s kingdom cannot be shaken. Hebrews 12:28 says we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be moved. That’s where our ultimate safety lies.

I believe this is a time for the church to rise up with both prayer and action. Pray for protection, but also take practical steps: safeguard your identity, check your credit, and teach your family not to trust every system blindly. God gave us wisdom for a reason.
Kayla, your post is timely. It’s a warning—and those who have ears to hear should take it seriously.
In Christ,

Mariah

Kayla, thank you for bringing this up. When I read your post, my spirit agreed with what you said—our government is not what it once was. There was a time when honor and accountability were held in higher regard, but now we see negligence and corruption creeping in at every level. It can make us feel unsafe, especially when something as precious as our Social Security information is put at risk.
But God reminded me of Isaiah 41:10, which says: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Even when institutions fail, our safety is ultimately in God’s hands. That doesn’t excuse the negligence, and we should absolutely hold leaders accountable. But we also can’t let fear rule our hearts. Fear is the enemy’s tool, while faith is God’s shield.
I believe this breach is a wake-up call, not just to the government but to us as believers. We must pray over our households, speak protection over our identities, and also use wisdom—check our credit, guard our personal information, and encourage others to do the same.
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). So while the government may be careless, we serve a God who never sleeps, never forgets, and never fails.
Let’s hold the government accountable, yes—but let’s also remind each other where our true security lies. Not in databases or agencies, but in the hands of the Almighty.
Blessings,
Mariah
