But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”— Mark 10:43–45

Reflection
God’s design for leadership is radically different from the world’s. The world often measures leadership by power, position, and prestige. But Jesus flips this upside down—He teaches that the greatest leaders are the greatest servants. Leadership in His Kingdom is about humility, sacrifice, and guiding others with love.
True leaders lead by example, with wisdom and courage, knowing that God has placed them in that role for His purpose. Joshua was told to be strong and courageous because leadership requires strength beyond human ability—it requires reliance on God’s presence. Peter tells leaders to shepherd the flock willingly, not for gain, but as examples.
When we step into leadership—whether in our homes, workplaces, communities, or churches—we must remember that we are accountable to God. Leadership is not about us; it is about serving Him by serving others.
Biblical Affirmation
“I am called to lead with humility, courage, and love. The Lord strengthens me to guide others with wisdom, and I will serve faithfully as Christ served.”
A Short Story
A young man named David was promoted to team leader at his job. Excited, he thought leadership meant giving orders and being in charge. But soon, his team grew discouraged and unmotivated. One day, his mentor reminded him of Jesus washing His disciples’ feet. David decided to change his approach. Instead of demanding, he started asking, “How can I help you succeed?” Slowly, his team’s morale lifted, and their work flourished. David learned that real leadership wasn’t about authority, but about service.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of leadership and the reminder that it is a calling to serve, not to be served. Teach me to lead with humility, courage, and love. Help me to be an example in word, action, and character. Strengthen me when challenges come, and remind me that You are with me wherever I go. May my leadership point others to Christ, the greatest servant-leader of all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
