Hi everyone, this is Stacey. I just wanted to come on here and share something deeply unsettling that happened just moments ago at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk was giving a speech to students and attendees when, according to the university, shots were fired from a nearby building. From what is being reported, this happened about 20 minutes into his speech.
There are still so many details that remain unclear. Some reports are circulating that Kirk himself may have been hit, but as of right now, nothing has been fully confirmed. NBC News politics reporter Alan Smith joined live coverage and stressed that this situation is still developing and that the information coming out must be handled carefully. Out of respect for accuracy and the seriousness of the matter, no official outlets have confirmed the extent of any injuries.
That being said, it’s already spreading quickly online. Lawmakers and political figures are posting messages saying “pray for Charlie Kirk.” Videos have also started circulating, but major outlets are urging people not to jump to conclusions until everything is verified.
Regardless of where anyone stands politically, I think we can all agree that violence is never the answer. No one should be in danger simply for speaking their mind, whether you agree with them or not. It’s heartbreaking to think that a college campus, which is supposed to be a place of learning and open dialogue, was disrupted by the sound of gunfire. Students, faculty, and attendees must have been terrified in that moment.
As a country, it feels like we are constantly dealing with one tragedy after another. People showing up for what should have been a simple campus event suddenly found themselves in the middle of chaos. I can only imagine the fear and confusion that swept through the audience. My heart goes out to everyone who was there tonight and to their families who are surely waiting by the phone, praying their loved ones are safe.
I think this also speaks to a bigger issue: the state of division and hostility we’re living in today. Whether it’s politics, religion, or personal beliefs, the fact that people feel driven to violence is deeply disturbing. We need to find ways to disagree without resorting to harm. Otherwise, this cycle will just keep repeating.
For now, all we can do is wait for more details to come in and keep everyone involved in our thoughts and prayers. I encourage everyone here to be mindful of what information you share until things are officially confirmed. Let’s not add to the confusion.
Most importantly, let’s lift up Charlie Kirk, his family, and all the students and staff at Utah Valley University tonight. I’m holding out hope that this turns out less tragic than what’s being feared right now.
Stay safe, everyone.

Technically they didn’t say he was shot. We just found out in the news that he got shot at so we don’t really know what happened. But clearly it’s all about politics and I think it’s really outrageous that people are letting politics divide us and also cause us to cause violence against one another. We really need to do some praying people like this stuff is just really out of control. I never thought in a million years I would live the day to see so much violence in places like this. It just really makes me very sad. And of course we have the wrong leaders in office. Let me add that
Now I don’t know a lot about him. But my question is, shouldn’t political leaders have security???🤚
I feel the same. I think they don’t think it’s a problem until it hits them. We have a selfish government and I think it’s been time for us to vote out a lot of these people that are in office. We need to vote differently next year to do something differently because we won’t see the results until somebody steps up and say this is enough.
This is extremely terrible news, but it’s sad to say that maybe this might make them get stronger gun laws. We have said time and time again that we need to stop people from holding weapons because clearly American people are not capable of holding a weapon and controlling their emotions at the same time. I’m sorry to say but this should have been done a long time ago. And now that the politician are being attacked, maybe they might get some balls and do something with the gun laws. 😠
