So apparently Uber has decided to let riders pay cash after the ride is over. Yeah… you read that right — AFTER the ride is already complete.

Now, maybe it’s just me, but who in their right mind trusts someone to hand over money after you’ve driven them halfway across town? This isn’t a lemonade stand — it’s your car, your gas, your safety. Uber seems to be saying, “Hey, we trust the customers more than the drivers,” and honestly, that’s a slap in the face. We’re the ones actually getting them from Point A to Point B, taking the risks, dealing with the public.

Let’s break this down:

• A rider schedules a trip.
• They hop in, you do the work.
• At the end, they’re supposed to hand you cash.
• If they don’t? Well… now it’s on you to chase down customer service.

And we all know what that’s like. Uber doesn’t even like answering calls when it’s about Uber Eats missing a burger, so why would they be fast to answer when it’s about some stranger skipping out on a fare?

On top of that — we’re in an economy where crime is already on the rise. You think flashing cash around in your car at midnight is smart? You think nobody’s going to see this as an easy setup to rob drivers? Or that some riders won’t just make up an excuse, pull a “whoops, I forgot my wallet” act, or worse — just jump out and run?

This isn’t just bad policy — it’s a full-on safety hazard. Drivers already have enough to deal with. Now Uber is basically inviting people to take advantage.

What’s next? Letting people “pay later” on a handshake?
