I’ve been on Reddit for a long time, but lately, I can’t shake the feeling that it’s going downhill fast. It used to feel like the kind of place where you could drop into a subreddit, share your thoughts, and actually have a real conversation with people who cared about the same stuff you did. These days? It feels too crowded, too corporate, and honestly, too controlling.

Don’t get me wrong—Reddit still has its good moments. There are subreddits that dive deep into niche topics, and when you find the right thread, you can learn a lot. But the problem is, you don’t always get to stay in that lane. The algorithm pushes random content at you, mods over-police everything, and if you post something even slightly controversial—even if you’re respectful—you run the risk of being banned without warning.

That’s what happened to me. I made a post about politics that wasn’t insulting, wasn’t hateful, wasn’t breaking rules. It was just a strong opinion. Next thing I know, my account is banned. No explanation, no appeal that made sense, just poof. Gone. That was the moment I realized Reddit doesn’t actually want people to be themselves. They want people to fit into a very specific mold. And if you don’t, you get punished.

To me, that completely misses the whole point of what a forum should be. The purpose of these spaces should be to let regular people talk—to share their voices, experiences, and perspectives. We already have mainstream media blasting their opinions 24/7. What I always wanted was a place where everyday people could discuss freely, even when it gets messy or uncomfortable. That’s how you actually learn and grow.

That’s why stumbling across this site yesterday felt refreshing. Here, I see categories where I can dive deep, stay in the topic, and really hash things out with people. If I want to talk about politics, I can. If I want to talk about culture, health, or world events, I don’t get forced into seeing a bunch of unrelated junk just because it’s trending. Even better, I don’t feel like I’m walking on eggshells, wondering if an honest thought will get me banned.

One of the worst parts about Reddit lately is how it feels more like a business than a community. It’s all about ad revenue, partnerships, and spotlighting whatever helps their bottom line. That wouldn’t bother me so much if they didn’t pretend to still be “for the people.” But when they silence voices just for the sake of keeping things polished, that’s when you know something’s broken.

This new platform, on the other hand, feels like it has a chance to keep its integrity. It feels like it’s about people first—our thoughts, our debates, our experiences. Sure, it’s not perfect (nothing is), but there’s something genuine about it that I haven’t felt on Reddit in years.

The thing I really hope is that it stays this way. That it doesn’t turn into another giant machine that chews up voices just to protect advertisers or big-name partners. Forums should be messy sometimes. They should let people argue, challenge each other, and share raw opinions—as long as we’re not crossing into hate or abuse. Free speech doesn’t mean you’ll always agree, but it does mean you get the chance to speak.

So yeah, maybe I’m ranting, but I’m also hopeful. If this place can stick to its core—real people, real discussions, real freedom—then it’s not just a forum. It’s a movement. And I’m here for it.

Yep, they were literally banning people’s accounts because they didn’t want people talking about what happened to Charlie Kirk. I feel like everybody can have an opinion and nobody’s being disrespectful when it comes to him. At least I’m not but I do feel like sometimes they take this thing. Overboard. People can have an opinion on what they feel that the violence came from. Even stating that guns could have been the main issue for what was going on. But if you have something you want to say and you mean what you say, why should we be stricken when they said we have a right to free speech. We’re not promoting hate. We’re saying that everyone even the Democrats are wrong with what’s going on today with all the hate. We have to learn to do like Jesus did and love. But at the end of the day anytime we try to say things that they’re doing wrong they get mad and then they want to retaliate. This is not the left at all doing this. This is all from the right.

I agree they have an agenda. Everything they do was about basically satisfying one side, and then when you have something to say and it’s really important and you start a movement, then they want to remove you from the platform or ban your account. I’m sorry but I can’t be a part of any community that’s going to ban me just because I have a thought or am I? A point of view doesn’t makes them feel happy. At the end of the day. I’m not on here being disrespectful. I’m just stating the facts and I don’t have to do it being rude or insulting anybody else. I’m just stating what I see. That is why Reddit is going to slowly go down the drain.
