Family, I just had to share this word with y’all because the Lord truly touched my heart today. Sometimes God drops something so heavy into your spirit that you can’t hold it in — you’ve got to release it, not just for yourself but for everyone else who needs it. Today, that word came straight out of Hebrews 2:9-11

Now, I know some of y’all may have read it before, but let me tell you why it struck me different this time. The scripture explains how Jesus actually tasted death. Think about that for a moment. He didn’t just brush past it, He didn’t just glance at it — He went all the way into death, experienced it fully, so that you and I would never have to be bound by it. That’s not just powerful — that’s life-changing.
Lower Than the Angels, Yet Exalted
The Word says that Jesus was made lower than the angels for a season. Imagine that. The One who created the heavens and the earth, the One who holds eternity in His hands, was made lower than the very angels who serve Him. But why? Because there was a purpose. He had to come down to our level, to walk this human life, to feel hunger, pain, rejection, and yes, even death.
And because He humbled Himself in that way, God exalted Him. Now, His name is lifted above every name in heaven and on earth. That’s the principle right there — to be the least among you is to be the greatest. Sometimes, to rise, you first have to fall. To live, you first have to die.
Dying to Become
Now let’s make this real. A lot of us are trying to “become” without first dying. But the truth is, in order to step into the fullness of what God has for us, something has to die. And I don’t mean a physical death. I mean dying to your old self, your old habits, your old way of thinking.
You’ve got to die to the world’s influence. Die to those temptations that keep you trapped. Die to the idea that you can do it all by yourself. When you do that, something new is born. And what’s born in the Spirit always has more power than what lived in the flesh.
Denying the Flesh
This is where it gets real. To deny the flesh means telling yourself “no” even when it feels good, even when it looks good, even when it seems like it’s what everybody else is doing. Saying, “Lord, I deny this pleasure because I know You are greater.” Saying, “God, I deny this sin because I know You are life.”
That’s not weakness — that’s strength. That’s discipline. That’s choosing life over death. Jesus didn’t just preach it; He lived it. He denied everything about this world so that He could fulfill His Father’s will.
God’s No is for Your Becoming
Listen, when God says “no,” He’s not trying to hurt you. He’s trying to grow you. He’s shaping you into something you could never be if you got everything you thought you wanted. A closed door might be the very thing that keeps you alive in the Spirit. A withheld blessing might be the very thing that prepares you for an even greater blessing down the line.
So instead of getting mad at God’s “no,” thank Him. Because it means He sees what you can’t. It means He’s protecting the becoming inside of you.
Defeating Death, Giving Us Life
And here’s the final point that shook me: Jesus didn’t just die — He defeated death. He went through the grave, and He came out victorious. That’s the same victory we get to walk in when we become for Christ. Death has no hold on us. Sin has no chains strong enough to bind us. The grave can’t keep us down.
So why do we keep acting like we’re powerless? Why do we keep telling the God who conquered death that He can’t handle our problems? Why do we keep leaning on our own understanding when His ways are higher, perfect, and complete?
Family, to live is to die. To live for Christ, we’ve got to die to ourselves. That’s not loss. That’s the greatest gain you could ever have.
Closing Word
So today, I’m declaring it: I am becoming for Christ. I am denying this world and everything in it that tries to pull me away from God. And I’m encouraging you to do the same. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
Jesus tasted death so that we could taste life — real, everlasting life. Don’t waste that gift. Step into it. Die to the world. Live for Christ. Become who He has called you to be.
Stay encouraged, stay motivated, and keep pressing toward your becoming.
