Let’s keep it real for a moment. Every single one of us makes mistakes. Nobody is out here walking through life with everything perfectly together. The truth is, if perfection was the requirement for walking with God, none of us would qualify. But here’s the beauty: God never asked us to be perfect—He asked us to be honest, humble, and willing to try.
A lot of times, people will make you believe that being a Christian means never slipping up, never doubting, never missing the mark. But that’s not the walk. The walk is learning who the Lord truly is, even in our mess-ups, and discovering His grace when He helps us fix what we broke. To know God is to have a relationship, and like any real relationship, it’s not built on flawless behavior—it’s built on love, trust, and truth.
The Power of Owning Your Mistakes
See, there’s a difference between messing up and just staying in your mess. When you acknowledge the wrong, when you take it to God and say, “Lord, I need Your help to get this right,” that’s where real growth starts. God isn’t watching to see if you slip—He’s watching to see if you’ll reach for His hand when you do.
We learn more about His mercy and His patience in those moments than in any season of smooth sailing. If everything in life went perfectly, we might never truly understand His role as Savior. Think about it: how can you know He’s a Redeemer if you’ve never needed redemption? How can you know He’s a Restorer if nothing in your life ever needed restoring?
God Looks at the Heart
Here’s the truth: God goes by the heart. He isn’t impressed with outward appearances, with empty routines, or with us trying to look like we’ve got it all together. He wants to know if your heart has the desire to be right with Him.
And listen—He knows we’re not perfect. He created us. He knows every weakness, every flaw, every temptation we face. So instead of beating yourself up because you didn’t master something the way you thought you should, remember that what matters most is your desire to get better. That’s the heart He sees. That’s the heart He honors.
Consistency Over Perfection
Don’t get caught up in the trap of thinking God only wants the end result. He values the process. He looks at whether you’re trying, whether you’re coming back to Him, whether you’re willing to keep working on it even after you’ve fallen short. Consistency with God means you’re saying, “I love You enough to not give up on this.”
Show Him you’ve got a plan to fix what’s broken. Show Him that your heart is leaning toward Him, even if you stumble along the way. That’s what matters.
Your Struggle Isn’t the End
Maybe today you’re struggling with something heavy. Maybe it’s a habit, a mindset, or a decision you regret. Hear me clearly: your struggle is not your ending. Don’t let shame convince you that God is done with you. Don’t let guilt trap you in the lie that you’ve failed too many times to be loved.
The fact that you even care about wanting to change, the fact that you still want to please Him—that’s evidence that your heart is alive in Him. And where there’s a heart alive in Him, there’s always hope.
The Call to Keep Going
So today, my words of power for you are simple: don’t stop trying. Don’t give up on yourself just because you aren’t where you thought you’d be by now. Don’t measure your walk by perfection. Measure it by your heart’s desire to be right with God.
And if your heart is aligned with Him, everything else will fall into place. Slowly but surely, piece by piece, He will shape you, mold you, and guide you into who you’re meant to be.
Final Word
If this word resonates with you today, don’t just let it pass by. Take it with you. Pray on it. Live it. Show God your heart, and let Him show you His love in return.
Remember this: it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being real. It’s not about never falling, it’s about always getting back up with God’s help. And if your heart has the desire to be right, then family—you’re already on the winning side.
This is Ya Girl Renae, and these are my Words of Power for you today. Be blessed, stay strong, and most of all, keep your heart open to the One who loves you most.
