Karoline, the so-called speaker for the Republicans, has been standing up and repeating over and over again that this shutdown is the fault of Democrats and that it’s all about the border and free health care for immigrants. Let’s be honest here—that’s a flat-out lie.
Everyone who’s paying attention knows this wasn’t about immigrants, and it definitely wasn’t about some last-minute fight over health care. That narrative was cooked up, and it has Trump’s fingerprints all over it. He loves to stir the pot and make everything about the border because it fires up his base, but the facts don’t back it up.
The Republicans already passed a clean, straightforward bill to keep the government funded until November 21st. It wasn’t tied to immigration. It wasn’t some loaded, partisan trick. Democrats have voted for the same kind of thing in the past—13 times under Biden. Six months ago, they had no issue with this type of bill. So why now? Why suddenly is it toxic?
Because this isn’t about border security at all. It’s about distraction. It’s about taking the heat off the real story that’s bubbling underneath everything—the Epstein files. That’s what nobody in Washington wants to talk about. That’s what they’re terrified of. So instead, we get this tired rerun of “blame the Democrats, blame the immigrants,” when the truth is sitting in plain sight.
What makes me furious is the smugness. Karoline gets up there, puts on her serious face, and repeats Trump’s talking points as if the rest of us are brainless. As if we’re just going to nod along and swallow it. No. People are awake now. We can see the lies, we can track the timelines, and we know exactly what’s being covered up.
This whole thing isn’t about protecting taxpayers, immigrants, or even political principle. It’s about power and smoke screens. And the fact that they think they can keep spinning this same tired excuse shows how little respect they have for the American people.
So, Karoline can keep lying. Trump can keep inventing stories. But sooner or later, the truth comes out. And when it does, I hope the people remember exactly who stood in front of them and treated them like fools.
