Excerpt:
I’m gonna be real with y’all β€” every time there’s a government shutdown, regular folks like us suffer while the people in Washington play power games. And now Trump wants to scrap the filibuster rule just to β€œend the shutdown”? Oh please. That’s not leadership β€” that’s desperation wrapped in ego. 😀

Here we go again. Another government shutdown, another blame game, and somehow we’re supposed to sit back quietly while the rich and powerful argue over who gets to control the narrative. This one’s dragging into its 30th day, and President Donald Trump is out here calling on Republicans to β€œscrap the filibuster” so they can push through what he wants. I don’t know about y’all, but that sounds like trying to burn down the house just to fix a leaky faucet. 🏚️πŸ”₯

Let’s be clear about what the filibuster really is it’s not just some dusty Senate rule. It’s literally the one thing stopping the majority party from doing whatever it wants whenever it feels like it. It forces debate, compromise, and sometimes (barely) a sense of balance in a system that’s already chaotic. Without it? Whoever has 51 votes basically becomes a mini-dictatorship. And knowing how Trump operates he’d love that kind of unchecked power.

What kills me most is how both parties have flipped on this issue depending on who’s in charge. Democrats once wanted to keep it, then some wanted to toss it. Republicans used it when Obama was president, and now Trump wants it gone because it’s in his way. It’s not about β€œprinciples.” It’s about power β€” plain and simple. πŸ’Ό

Meanwhile, people are sitting at home wondering when they’ll get their paychecks again. Federal employees are struggling, national parks are trashed, small businesses that rely on government contracts are hanging by a thread β€” and our president is focused on changing Senate rules instead of ending the suffering of real Americans. You can’t eat political talking points. You can’t pay your rent with β€œparty loyalty.”

Honestly, I’m exhausted by how normalized this has become. Every time there’s a crisis, instead of fixing the issue, we get another round of finger-pointing, press conferences, and social media outbursts. The system is breaking, and everyone’s too busy playing chess to notice that the board’s on fire.

I get it, Trump wants a win. He wants to look strong and decisive. But scrapping the filibuster doesn’t make you strong; it makes you short-sighted. What happens when the other party takes power and uses the same rules to bulldoze through their own agenda? Oh, right β€” then it’s suddenly a β€œconstitutional crisis.” πŸ™„

We need leaders who can actually negotiate, not throw tantrums and rewrite the rules every time they don’t get their way. The filibuster might be annoying, but it’s also one of the few things forcing politicians to talk to each other. And if they can’t do that, then maybe they don’t deserve to be in those seats to begin with. So yeah maybe the real shutdown isn’t the government. Maybe it’s our leaders’ ability to think long-term. πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
