Hey everyone, it’s Layla, and I just need to get this off my chest because it’s been bothering me for months now. I honestly feel like Google has the worst search engine on the planet right now, and it’s not even an exaggeration. I grew up using Google, and for a long time, it was the first place I went for answers. It felt like the company that had everything at your fingertips, no matter how big or small your question was. But now? It feels like Google has gone completely downhill, and honestly, it’s embarrassing for them.

I mean, think about it. For a company that has dominated the internet for decades, you would expect them to be ahead of the curve, constantly innovating and updating their systems. Instead, it feels like they’ve gotten lazy and too caught up in their own politics to do the one job they’re supposed to do—deliver accurate, timely search results. I don’t know if you’ve noticed this too, but it seems like it takes forever for Google to update its search index now. I’m talking weeks, sometimes months before newer content shows up in searches. How does that even make sense in 2025? We’re living in an era where information spreads in seconds, yet Google is acting like we’re still back in the early 2000s with dial-up internet.

And don’t even get me started on the censorship. Ever since Google decided to take sides in politics and start handpicking what people should or shouldn’t see, the search results have gone from bad to worse. It’s like they’ve turned into gatekeepers instead of a search engine. You can literally tell when they’re suppressing certain topics or steering you toward mainstream media sources that repeat the same talking points over and over. It’s frustrating because I’m not asking Google to think for me—I just want access to information so I can make up my own mind. Isn’t that what the internet was supposed to be about in the first place?

What makes this even more insulting is that Google used to pride itself on being neutral, on being the tool for everyone. Now, it feels like they’ve completely sold out. They’re too busy trying to control the narrative and too scared to lose their grip on advertisers and governments that they’re forgetting why people came to them in the first place. It’s like they’ve forgotten that the user should always come first, not political agendas or corporate interests.

I’ll be real with you all: lately, I’ve been experimenting with other search engines, and you know what? Yahoo actually surprised me. I know, I know, some people still think of Yahoo as outdated, but I tried it a couple of times, and the results were way more accurate and up-to-date compared to Google. That really says something. The fact that I can get better, more relevant results from Yahoo in 2025 than I can from Google is wild to me. It makes me wonder if we might actually see Yahoo (or another competitor) rise up and take back some of that market share Google has been hogging for so long. Because let’s be honest, people are tired. I know I’m not the only one fed up with Google’s nonsense.

It’s not just about accuracy either—it’s also about trust. How can I trust Google anymore when I know they’re deliberately messing with results, pushing some things down while elevating others? It’s shady, it’s manipulative, and it’s completely against what they were supposed to stand for. And while they’re doing all this, they’re also struggling to pay creators fairly. They’re fighting tooth and nail to avoid paying out what they owe, whether it’s in ad revenue or in lawsuits over copyright and fair use. It just shows you that the giant isn’t as powerful as it once was, and instead of improving their services, they’re cutting corners and trying to silence criticism.

What’s sad is that Google doesn’t even seem ashamed of itself. They keep pretending like nothing’s wrong, like they’re still the gold standard of search. But if you’ve actually been using them regularly, you know the truth: they’re slipping, and they’ve been slipping for a while now. They’ve gone from being the best to being garbage, and unless they do something drastic, they might not recover.

Honestly, I never thought I’d say this, but I think it’s time we all start looking at alternatives. If Yahoo is already proving to be more accurate, who’s to say they can’t become the next big competitor? Or maybe even a new search engine entirely will come along and take over, because right now, Google is doing everything in its power to drive people away. And trust me, I am more than ready to jump ship.

So yeah, that’s where I’m at with Google. I’m tired, I’m frustrated, and I’m done pretending like they’re still the best when clearly they’re not. They’ve lost sight of what matters, and until they remember that the user is the most important piece of the puzzle, I’m going to keep exploring other options. Maybe it’s time for all of us to do the same.
