Google Search used to be clean. You typed something in, got a list of websites, clicked a result, and found the information you needed. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked. Now when you search for something, you’re hit with a wall of ads, giant cards, sponsored results, and an AI summary that nobody asked for.

The AI overview takes up a huge portion of the screen and often provides answers that are either incomplete, useless, or flat-out wrong. It confidently pulls information from random places across the internet and presents it as fact. That’s a dangerous game when people depend on search engines for accurate information.

What’s even worse is the damage being done to websites. Why would people click through to an article when Google is trying to answer everything itself? Independent publishers, bloggers, and news websites are watching their traffic disappear. Many businesses depend on those clicks to survive, and now they’re losing readers because Google wants to keep users on Google.

To me, it feels like Google is panicking because of competition from AI platforms and other search engines. Instead of improving search, they’re cluttering it. The company that built its reputation on delivering clean search results is now burying those results under ads and AI-generated summaries.

If Google keeps putting its own content above the creators who actually make the content, people will continue looking elsewhere. History has shown that no company stays on top forever. The moment users feel they are no longer getting the best experience, they move on. Google should remember that before it becomes the next big tech giant that forgot why people loved it in the first place.
