There’s a moment in Exodus that always feels fresh no matter how many times you read it — that point when the Israelites are standing at the edge of the Red Sea. Behind them, Pharaoh’s army is charging full speed, and in front of them, there’s nothing but deep water. Panic fills the air. People are shouting, doubting, and crying out to Moses, wondering why God would bring them all this way just to let them die.
Sound familiar? We’ve all been there. Maybe you’re not standing at a literal sea, but you’re standing in a situation that feels just as impossible — bills stacking up, relationships breaking down, dreams fading fast. You see no way out, and everything in you wants to give up. But Moses’ words in this passage still speak across time: “Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.”
That’s not an easy instruction when fear is loud. But sometimes, standing still is the most powerful thing you can do. When you stop running, stop worrying, and stop trying to fix what only God can handle — that’s when He shows up in power. The same God who parted the Red Sea can part the chaos in your life.
We often forget that deliverance doesn’t always come instantly. Before the water split, God gave an instruction. Before freedom came, obedience was required. God told Moses to lift his staff — a simple act of faith that unlocked a supernatural move. That’s how God works. He meets faith with power.
Sometimes, your “staff moment” is your praise when you don’t feel like it. Sometimes it’s your obedience when logic says walk away. Sometimes it’s just your stillness when fear tells you to panic. But if you lift what you have — your faith, your voice, your trust — God will handle the rest.
The key in this passage isn’t just that God delivered them. It’s that He delivered them completely. “The Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever.” When God sets you free, He doesn’t do it halfway. He doesn’t bring you out to drag you back. When He opens the sea, He also closes it behind you so that what once chased you can’t reach you anymore.
Whatever has been pursuing you — whether it’s fear, addiction, heartbreak, or doubt — God is saying today, “You will see it no more.” The same way He drowned Pharaoh’s army in the sea, He’s about to drown the things that have been holding you back.
So tonight, as you prepare for tomorrow, remember this: God didn’t bring you this far to leave you stranded. You might not see how He’s going to do it, but He’s already working behind the scenes. All He’s asking you to do is trust, stand still, and watch Him move.
Because when God delivers, He delivers completely.
💬 Prayer:
Lord, when fear tries to make me doubt Your plan, help me stand still and trust that You are fighting for me. Teach me to hold my peace, knowing that You’re working even when I can’t see it. Just like You delivered Israel, deliver me completely from everything that’s been chasing me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
