⚠️ SPOILER ALERT:

Alright y’all, Danny here — and I just got done watching HIM. Let me tell you, I’m still sitting here thinking about it. This movie blew me away, but also had me shaking my head at the same time. It’s one of those films that pulls you in, makes you question everything, and then leaves you kind of unsettled when it’s over.

Now, first off, I want to be real — I would not suggest any Christian go see this movie. Period. The only reason I even gave it a chance was because I kept hearing people talk about how it had some deep symbolism tied to Christianity and selling your soul for success. So, I figured I’d check it out to see what all the talk was about.

And honestly? It’s heavy. Like, spiritually heavy. The message behind it is powerful — it’s basically about how people are willing to sell their souls to the devil just to have fame, power, and status. You see this man trying to make it big, to become the best, to be the GOAT, but at what cost? The movie shows how these organizations, these so-called “elite groups,” lure people in, and before you know it, you’ve made a deal with something dark.

The part that actually caught my attention was that, in the end, he didn’t give in. He decided he would rather turn down greatness than lose his soul. And that hit me. Because that’s real life for a lot of people chasing fame — they think they’ve got to compromise everything to make it. This movie showed that you don’t have to. You can walk away. That right there was the best part for me.

Now, I will say this: the movie was demonic in its theme. No sugarcoating that. There’s a lot of violence, a lot of blood, and more cursing than I cared to hear. Some scenes were just downright uncomfortable. If you’re squeamish or sensitive to dark spiritual stuff, this movie is not for you. But as disturbing as it was, it really showed just how twisted and real this kind of thing can be — the way people get caught up with fame, power, and these secret societies that promise them everything but end up taking their soul instead.

And look, I’ve got to talk about Marlon Wayans. I’ll be honest — he shocked me. I’ve seen him in comedies, lighthearted roles, and even some serious films, but this one? This was different. It was dark. It was intense. He really gave one of his best performances, and that’s actually what scared me a little. Because I couldn’t help but think… why is it that his “best” role had to be something so demonic? It’s almost like the deeper he got into that dark character, the more powerful the performance became. And that’s what bothered me.

⚠️ SPOILER ALERT:
There’s this one scene near the end where they’re about to drink someone’s blood as part of a ritual to “sacrifice” themselves so they can become the best version of who they want to be. That’s when it hit me: this whole movie is really just a picture of what happens when people trade their soul for fame. It’s symbolic of how far people will go to be great, but also a warning of what happens when you lose yourself in the process.

So yeah, HIM is a film that’ll stick with you. It’s dark, spiritual, deep, and honestly uncomfortable at times. But it has a message — one that’s worth thinking about. I don’t know if I’d ever watch it again, but it definitely opened my eyes to how art can reflect real-life spiritual battles.

If you’re curious about it, just know what you’re getting into. It’s not your average thriller or horror flick. It’s something deeper — something that hits at the soul level. But for me? Once was enough.
