It’s October 15th and I’m coming from you. Live the land of no internet — thanks to Spectrum. I’m in the Pinellas County, St. Petersburg area (33711 zip code), and Spectrum is currently down across a big chunk of the city. They’re saying it’s a service outage that’s not expected to be resolved until around 9 a.m., which means a full night of zero connection for anyone depending on their service for work or entertainment.

I can’t even access half the stuff I normally use because my Wi-Fi is completely dead. My website’s affected, streaming’s dead, and even my router lights are sitting there mocking me. I tried contacting Spectrum through their app, but surprise — it’s useless when the internet’s down. Their automated system just keeps repeating the same message about a “service interruption in your area.”

This is not the first time either. It feels like every couple of months, we’re dealing with another “unexpected outage.” For how much they charge, you’d think they could keep their system stable for more than a week straight. I know a lot of people rely on Spectrum for their livelihood — so this isn’t just inconvenient, it’s frustrating and costly.

Hopefully by the time anyone sees this, your internet’s back up. But seriously, Spectrum needs to get it together. People pay too much for this kind of unreliable service.

I don’t even know where to start, because Spectrum has pushed me to my breaking point. Every single month, it’s something new — the internet goes out, the bill jumps higher, or I get stuck on hold for hours just to speak to someone who can’t fix anything. I’m tired of paying for a service that doesn’t even work half the time.

Just last week, my internet went down for the entire evening right in the middle of a work deadline. When I called Spectrum, they told me there was “an outage in my area” and that it would be fixed soon. Well, “soon” turned into almost 12 hours with no internet, no updates, and no apology. Then, when it finally came back, it was still lagging like crazy — videos buffering, pages not loading, and my Wi-Fi signal dropping every few minutes.

What makes it worse is that Spectrum acts like they’re doing us a favor. You call customer service, and they’ll talk to you like it’s your fault the modem isn’t working. Then they’ll try to upsell you a higher package instead of actually helping you solve the issue. It’s ridiculous! I’ve had techs come out multiple times, and each one says something different — “it’s the weather,” “your router’s outdated,” or my favorite, “we’re doing maintenance in your area.” I’m sorry, but how much “maintenance” does one company need?

The prices keep going up, but the service keeps getting worse. They used to have decent speeds, but now it feels like I’m back in the early 2000s waiting for a page to load. For the amount of money Spectrum charges, they should be giving us gold-plated Wi-Fi that never drops, not this unreliable mess that cuts out during storms, sunny days, and everything in between.

I know I’m not the only one dealing with this nonsense. Everyone I talk to who has Spectrum says the same thing — it’s unreliable, overpriced, and stressful. At this point, I’d switch in a heartbeat if there was another decent provider in my area. But Spectrum has a monopoly here, so we’re basically trapped paying for garbage service.

I just wish they would actually listen to their customers instead of pretending everything’s fine. Because nothing about paying full price for half service is fine.
