Let me start off by saying this: Metro PCS might just be one of the most disappointing cell phone providers out there. I donโ€™t care how many commercials they run about being affordable, flexible, or โ€œnationwide.โ€ None of that matters when the actual service doesnโ€™t work half the time. Iโ€™ve been with Metro PCS long enough to give them a fair chance, but at this point, Iโ€™m convinced theyโ€™ve become experts at selling illusions, not solutions.

Whenever I travel outside my city, my phone basically turns into a useless piece of plastic. I canโ€™t call, canโ€™t get a signal, and sometimes I canโ€™t even send a text. Itโ€™s as if the second I leave my neighborhood, Metro PCS forgets I exist. Itโ€™s frustrating because, in todayโ€™s world, people rely on their phones for everything โ€” GPS, emergencies, work calls, family updates โ€” and here I am, sitting with โ€œNo Serviceโ€ in big bold letters across my screen. Whatโ€™s the point of paying for a phone plan that only works when Iโ€™m standing in one specific ZIP code?

Then letโ€™s talk about their phones. Metro PCS tries to push these devices like theyโ€™re top-notch, but the truth is, most of them are low-end models that barely last. Iโ€™ve had a few over the years, and they all seem to have one thing in common โ€” poor performance. The sound quality is off, apps lag constantly, and the battery life is trash. Half the time when Iโ€™m talking to someone, thereโ€™s an echo on the line that makes it impossible to have a decent conversation. And donโ€™t even get me started on the dropped calls. I could be in the middle of something important โ€” a job interview, a family emergency, or just catching up with a friend โ€” and suddenly, the call drops. No warning, no explanation, just silence.

What makes it worse is how inconsistent everything is. Some days itโ€™s fine for a few hours, and then suddenly, the network starts acting up like itโ€™s on strike. Iโ€™ve missed calls that never even showed up in my call log. There have been times when people told me they called, and my phone didnโ€™t even ring โ€” it went straight to voicemail without my knowledge. Do you know how embarrassing that is? To find out someone thought you ignored them when really, your service just failed you again? Itโ€™s ridiculous.

They advertise themselves as an affordable alternative to other carriers, but at what cost? Because to me, itโ€™s not affordable if Iโ€™m paying for something that doesnโ€™t work. Saving a few dollars each month doesnโ€™t mean much when the service barely functions. Iโ€™d rather pay a bit more and have reliability, like when I was with Cricket. They were more expensive, yes, but at least my phone actually worked everywhere I went. With Metro PCS, it feels like youโ€™re constantly gambling on whether or not your phone will connect.

And customer service? Thatโ€™s a whole other story. Every time Iโ€™ve tried to call and explain whatโ€™s going on, I get transferred around like a hot potato. Theyโ€™ll reset the network, tell me to restart my phone, and act like the issue is solved โ€” but it never is. You can almost hear the script theyโ€™re reading from. Thereโ€™s no real help, just temporary fixes that last maybe a few hours, if that.

Itโ€™s 2025 โ€” thereโ€™s no reason cell service should still be this unreliable. Especially from a company thatโ€™s been around this long and merged with T-Mobile. Youโ€™d think theyโ€™d have better towers, stronger connections, and more dependable customer care. But nope, same problems, same excuses, same frustration.

At this point, Iโ€™m honestly ready to switch again. Iโ€™m tired of having a phone that doesnโ€™t ring when itโ€™s supposed to, of hearing echoes in every call, and of watching โ€œSearching for Networkโ€ pop up more often than my notifications. If Metro PCS wants to keep customers, they need to fix their service โ€” plain and simple. Because affordable or not, Iโ€™m not paying another dime for a service that canโ€™t even do the basics right.
