Excerpt:
I see too many people out here preaching, prophesying, and posting for the wrong reasons. God never told us to perform for clout. He told us to love Him, serve Him, and let everything we do point back to Him. If your ministry is built on self-praise, it’s nothing but another Tower of Babel.

Let’s get something straight — God never asked any of us to preach for praise or prophesy for clout. He called us to do it out of love. And I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if the goal of your ministry is to get followers, likes, or applause, you’re not working for God. You’re working for your own image.
When I read Genesis 11:4 — “Then they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves’” — it hits me every time. That verse isn’t just about ancient people stacking bricks. It’s about the same pride and ego we see today. Those people wanted to make a name for themselves instead of glorifying God, and that’s exactly what a lot of folks are doing now. Building platforms. Building audiences. Building towers. But none of it’s built on obedience.
The Tower of Babel wasn’t destroyed because they built too high; it was destroyed because they built for the wrong reason. They had unity, but their unity was rooted in pride, not purpose. God saw it and said, “This isn’t for Me — this is for them.” So He confused their language and scattered them. That’s what happens when your work stops being about God — confusion sets in, and the unity falls apart.
I’ve seen people get up and “preach” like they’re performing. They shout for the cameras, not the kingdom. They want the crowd to shout their name instead of shouting Hallelujah. And listen, I’m not judging — I’ve been there before. I’ve had moments where I had to check myself and ask, “Am I doing this because I love God, or because I love the attention?”
That’s when the Holy Spirit reminds me that God doesn’t bless ego, He blesses obedience. You can sound anointed, but if your heart isn’t right, God won’t recognize it. Matthew 7:22 says it plain: “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name?’” And Jesus will say, “I never knew you.” You can do all the preaching, singing, and posting in the world, but if you’re doing it for your own glory, God isn’t in it.
We’ve turned ministry into a brand when it’s supposed to be a calling. We’ve replaced devotion with promotion. Some people can’t even serve unless a camera’s on. But let me tell you something — the real anointing doesn’t need an audience. The real power of God doesn’t need to be live-streamed. It shows up in quiet obedience, in the unseen moments, in how you treat people when nobody’s watching.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:1, “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them.” That right there is the warning. If your works are for show, that’s all the reward you’ll ever get — the applause of men. But if your works are out of love and humility, your reward is eternal.
God is calling us back to the heart of worship — the kind that doesn’t care about views, shares, or trending hashtags. He’s calling us to serve for His glory, not ours. Because when you start doing it for love, everything changes. You don’t compete with others. You don’t crave validation. You just do what God called you to do and trust Him with the rest.
So before you preach that sermon, post that video, or call yourself a prophet — check your heart. Ask yourself, “Am I building God’s kingdom, or am I building my own tower?” Because only one of those will stand.
