Excerpt:
Man, this whole SNAP situation is wild. Bernie Sanders came out swinging in the Senate, calling out the government for taking away people’s food benefits — and rightfully so. Now we’re hearing that Trump plans to do something about it by the end of November, promising that folks will finally see their food stamps back. Honestly, if this is true, it couldn’t come at a better time.

I don’t care who you are or what side of the political fence you’re on — people need to eat. 🍽️ What’s been going on with SNAP lately is downright cruel. For weeks, families have been struggling, wondering how they’re supposed to feed their kids, their elderly parents, or even themselves. Prices are through the roof, grocery shelves look like luxury stores, and now, to top it off, the government pulled the rug out from under millions by cutting SNAP benefits. It’s embarrassing for a country that claims to be “the richest in the world.”

That’s why I was glad to see Bernie Sanders stand up in the Senate and hold a press conference about it. Say what you want about the man, but at least Bernie still talks about regular people. He flat-out said what most politicians won’t: taking away food benefits from low-income families during inflation is heartless. And he’s right. When you have people choosing between paying rent or buying food, you don’t “review budgets” you fix the damn problem.

Then, just as everyone was about to lose hope, word came out that former President Trump is supposedly planning something to get people their stamps again by the end of November. Now, I don’t know how official that is yet (you know how rumors go), but if it’s true, this could actually save a lot of people during the holidays. Thanksgiving is around the corner, and many families were already preparing to skip big dinners this year because there just isn’t any help coming in.

Imagine that after everything going on in the world, we’re arguing about whether people deserve to eat. 😔 It shouldn’t take political pressure or public outcry for our leaders to realize that hunger is not a partisan issue. Food insecurity hits everyone the elderly, the disabled, veterans, working parents — even folks with jobs can’t make ends meet these days.

I’ll give Bernie credit for shining light on it, and if Trump’s plan actually happens, I’ll give him credit too. Because at this point, I don’t care who fixes it — Democrat, Republican, independent just fix it. People are tired, hungry, and fed up.

Hopefully, by the end of November, we’ll see some relief. Folks just want to fill their refrigerators again and not have to beg the system for what they’ve already earned. 🥦🍗 Let’s see if they keep their word this time.

Finally, somebody said it! I’ve been saying for months that cutting SNAP during inflation was heartless. I’m glad Bernie’s standing up and calling them out, because some of these politicians act like they’ve never had to worry about dinner a day in their life. 🍲
