Excerpt:
I used to think Newsbreak was a legit news app — a place where you could get local stories, national updates, and credible reporting all in one spot. But now? It’s starting to look more like a gossip site mixed with TikTok. Half-naked people, violent videos, and random clickbait everywhere. Like seriously, what happened to the journalism?!

I don’t know if I’m the only one who’s been noticing this, but Newsbreak has completely changed and not for the better. When I first joined, it actually felt like a real news source. You could find stories from reputable outlets, community updates, and things that mattered. They promoted themselves as an information hub kind of like a cleaner, more local version of Google News. But now? It’s honestly hard to even recognize it anymore.

Every time I open the app lately, I have to brace myself because I never know what’s going to pop up. I see half-naked people doing skits, violent content being promoted, and “stories” that look more like tabloid nonsense than actual journalism. 😩 Like, why is this allowed on a platform that’s supposed to be about news? It’s disturbing, especially when you’re trying to stay informed and instead end up bombarded with inappropriate and sensational content.

And let’s not act like this isn’t dangerous because it is. When a platform starts mixing entertainment with what’s supposed to be factual reporting, people get confused about what’s real and what’s not. Newsbreak has become a playground for clickbait, and Google still ranks it like it’s a trustworthy source. I honestly don’t understand how that’s even possible. You’d think with the kind of content that’s floating around there now, Google would flag it or at least stop promoting it so heavily in search results. But nope — it’s still right up there next to real news outlets. 🙄

It’s not just frustrating; it’s disappointing. I used to recommend Newsbreak to people because I liked how easy it was to find local stories. But now, I can’t even open the app around my kids. That’s the part that really bothers me the most. It’s one thing for adults to scroll and see that kind of mess — we can filter it out or roll our eyes and move on. But when children accidentally come across videos or “articles” with half-naked people, sexualized skits, or violent imagery, that’s a huge problem.

It’s like they’ve traded integrity for engagement. They want clicks, views, and traffic — and it shows. You can literally scroll and see headlines that look like they were written just to shock you into tapping. “So-and-so EXPOSED,” “She did WHAT on camera?!” and the crazy part? It’s on what’s supposed to be a news platform! It honestly feels more like YouTube Shorts or TikTok than a place where journalists share stories.

I miss the old Newsbreak the one that actually cared about news. The one that connected communities instead of catering to whatever gets the most clicks. Now it’s just noise. And when you start promoting violence and borderline adult content under the guise of “news,” that’s not just tacky — it’s irresponsible.

I know I can’t be the only one who’s noticed this. Every time I talk to people about it, they all say the same thing “Yeah, Newsbreak used to be good, but now it’s full of garbage.” It’s sad to see something that had so much potential fall into the trap of cheap attention. So yeah, I’m frustrated. I’m disappointed. And I’m seriously reconsidering keeping the app on my phone at all. Because if I wanted to scroll through nonsense, I’d just go to social media not a supposed news platform. 👎
