At first, it looks clean and professional. You feel like, โOkay, this might be a place where my writing actually gets seen.โ But then reality kicks in. You can spend hours writing something thoughtful, something real, and it just sits there. No views, no engagement, nothing. Meanwhile, youโll see basic, surface-level posts blowing up just because the algorithm decided to push them.
And letโs talk about that paywall. Youโre telling me people have to pay just to read most of the content? That already limits your audience before you even start. If youโre trying to build a name or actually connect with people, that setup works against you. It feels like your voice is being locked behind a door most people wonโt even open.
Another thing is the lack of real community. It doesnโt feel interactive. People clap, maybe leave a short comment, and thatโs it. Thereโs no real conversation, no back-and-forth, no energy. It feels more like shouting into a void than actually connecting with readers.
And honestly, it starts to feel like unless you already have a following or know how to game the system, youโre not going anywhere. Itโs frustrating because it gives off this illusion that anyone can grow there… but thatโs not the full truth. Iโm not saying itโs completely useless, but for a lot of regular people trying to get their voice out there, it just doesnโt hit the way you expect it to. It feels limited, controlled, and kind of disconnected.
If youโre serious about building something real, you might end up realizing there are better places to put your time and your words.
