I’m honestly trying to understand how Restream thinks it’s okay to charge nearly $45 a month just to stream or record in 1080p. Like… when did HD become some kind of luxury upgrade? That’s basic at this point. We’re not talking about 4K cinematic production with crazy editing tools, this is just standard quality that most people expect out the box.
What makes it worse is there are other platforms out here offering similar features for way less, or even free, and somehow they’re still managing to give decent quality. So what exactly are we paying for? Because it’s definitely not adding up. It feels like these companies are slowly normalizing overpriced subscriptions and hoping people just accept it without questioning anything.
And I get it—businesses need to make money. Nobody is saying everything should be free. But there’s a difference between fair pricing and straight-up overdoing it. $45 a month just to unlock something as basic as 1080p feels like a stretch, especially for small creators, podcasters, or people just trying to grow their platform without going broke doing it.
It just comes off like they’re targeting people who don’t know any better or who feel stuck using the platform. Because once you really look around, you start realizing… yeah, this ain’t it. At some point, companies have to realize people are paying attention. We’re comparing, we’re talking, and we’re definitely not just throwing money away like that anymore.

I’m right there with you on this. That pricing really doesn’t sit right, especially for something like 1080p that should honestly be standard by now. When I first looked into Restream, I thought maybe I was missing something, like okay, maybe they’ve got some crazy features that justify the price. But once you actually dig into it, it’s like… nah, this ain’t adding up.
I stream and record content myself, and I’ve used cheaper tools that still get the job done without making me feel like I’m being nickel-and-dimed for basic quality. It’s frustrating because platforms know a lot of creators are trying to grow, and instead of making things more accessible, they’re putting stuff like HD behind a paywall like it’s some premium luxury.
And like you said, it’s not about wanting everything for free, it’s about fairness. If I’m paying that much, I expect way more value, not just clearer video. It just feels like they’re banking on people not comparing options. But people are catching on now, and stuff like this definitely makes you look elsewhere fast.
