How are we supposed to keep living like this? Everywhere you look, prices are going up. Groceries, rent, gas, utilities… even the “cheap” stuff isn’t cheap anymore. And the crazy part? Paychecks are barely moving.
You go into the store with $100 thinking you’re about to stock up, and you walk out with two bags like you just picked up snacks. Eggs cost more, meat costs more, and don’t even think about grabbing “extras” anymore, that’s a luxury now. It feels like we’re slowly being pushed into survival mode, and nobody in charge is really addressing what everyday people are dealing with.
And let’s talk about rent. Rent is out of control. You mean to tell me a basic apartment, not luxury, not updated, just regular, is pushing $1,500 to $2,000 in some places? For what? Then on top of that, you still have to pay lights, internet, groceries, and gas. It’s like you’re working just to exist, not to live.
What’s frustrating is that people are being told to “budget better” or “work harder,” but how much harder can people really work? A lot of folks already have two jobs. Some people are doing side hustles, selling things online, driving for apps, and it’s still not enough. At some point, we have to be real about the system, not just blame individuals.
And don’t even get me started on companies raising prices while reporting record profits. So clearly, the money is there… it’s just not reaching the people who actually need it. That’s what makes this feel even more unfair. It’s like the gap is getting wider right in front of our eyes.
The mental toll is real too. People are stressed, tired, and honestly overwhelmed. When every bill feels like pressure and every trip to the store feels like a setback, it wears on you. And yet, we’re expected to just keep pushing like everything is normal.
At some point, something has to give. Because right now, it feels like regular people are carrying the weight of everything while getting the least support. This isn’t just about money anymore — it’s about quality of life. Anybody else feeling this, or is it just me?

I felt every word of this because it’s exactly what so many of us are dealing with right now. You’re not exaggerating at all, this is real life. It’s gotten to the point where even being responsible with money doesn’t seem to make a difference anymore. You can budget, plan, cut back, and still feel like you’re falling behind.
The grocery part really hit me. I used to go into the store and feel like I had options. Now it’s like you’re forced to choose between what you need and what you can actually afford. And like you said, the extras are gone. No more grabbing things just because you want them, everything has to be calculated, and that takes the joy out of something as simple as shopping for your home.
Rent is another level of stress. It’s honestly scary how high it’s gotten, especially when the places don’t even match the price. People aren’t asking for luxury, just something decent and affordable. But it feels like that’s becoming harder and harder to find. And when most of your income goes to rent, it leaves very little room to breathe.
I also agree with what you said about people being told to “work harder.” That advice feels outdated now. People are working hard. People are exhausted. Like you mentioned, folks are juggling multiple jobs, side hustles, and still not getting ahead. That’s not a personal failure, that’s a bigger issue that needs to be acknowledged.
And the mental stress is something people don’t talk about enough. It’s draining constantly worrying about bills, prices, and whether you’re going to have enough. That kind of pressure builds up over time, and it affects everything , your mood, your energy, your peace of mind.
You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way. A lot of people are quietly going through the same thing, and posts like this help put it into words. Hopefully, more conversations like this start happening, because something has to change.
