Man… clickbait really be ruining the whole experience on YouTube and I’m honestly over it.
The WORST part? That thumbnail be straight up ridiculous… and then you click the video and that moment is NOWHERE in it. Like what?? 😒 You got this wild image making it seem like something crazy happened, and then you sit through the video waiting for it… and it never comes. That’s not even marketing at that point, that’s just misleading people.
And what gets me is… it’s their loss. I don’t even click that stuff anymore. Soon as I see something that look fake or overly dramatic, I’m scrolling right past it. No second thought. And I know I’m not the only one doing that either. The sad part is, a lot of these creators actually GOT talent. I’ve seen it myself. They can edit, they can talk, they got good ideas… but instead of just letting that speak, they lean all the way into clickbait like it’s the only way to win. It’s like… why?? You could build a real audience off being authentic, but instead you choosing short-term clicks over long-term respect. That’s wild to me.
And don’t even get me started on those “reaction” or “analysis” videos… especially with artists. You already know the type. Every single video is overly positive, hyped up, acting like EVERYTHING is amazing. Nobody ever critiques anything, nobody keeps it real. It’s just “OMG THIS WAS INSANE!!!” every single time.
Like come on… we not stupid.
It’s obvious a lot of them doing that just to ride the fanbase wave. Say nice things, get shared, get views, repeat. It’s a whole system. And yeah it works, but it don’t feel real at all. It feel calculated. I’m not saying everything gotta be negative, but at least be honest. If something mid, say it’s mid. If something fire, say it’s fire. That balance is what makes people trust you. Without that, it just feels like you performing for clicks.
That’s why I respect the creators who actually give real opinions, even if it’s not what people wanna hear. The ones who break things down, who got experience, who not afraid to say “nah this could’ve been better.” They not screaming, they not doing the most, but you can tell they KNOW what they talking about. And yeah, they might not go viral like the clickbait crowd… but their audience? Solid. Loyal. Real. At this point, I’d rather watch something genuine with 10k views than something fake with a million.
Clickbait might get you in the door, but it won’t keep people there. And a lot of these creators gonna learn that the hard way. Stop faking it… and just be real. It’s really that simple.
