I was highly disappointed today after ordering food through Instacart. The driver shopped my order, marked several items as “not available,” chose replacements, and then suddenly said they had been in an accident and could not deliver the order. Now let me be clear — I understand accidents happen every day, and I would never wish anything bad on anyone. But honestly, the whole situation just felt really fishy to me.

What made me start questioning everything was the fact that when another shopper picked up the order afterward, many of the same items the first shopper claimed were “out of stock” were actually available in the store. That immediately made me wonder if this person was really being truthful from the beginning. It honestly crossed my mind that maybe they intentionally marked items unavailable, got replacements they wanted, and then kept the groceries for themselves.

And sadly, this is the kind of thing people are starting to think about these days because times are hard. People are struggling financially, and desperation can make people do things they normally wouldn’t do. I’ve seen stories where shoppers or delivery drivers allegedly kept customers’ groceries, and after today, I can honestly understand why people become suspicious.

At the same time, I tried not to hold bitterness in my heart over it. I told myself, “God will handle it.” Maybe that person truly needed the food more than I did. Maybe something really did happen. But regardless, if someone knowingly took from me or lied, that is still wrong. People work hard for their money, and when you order food, you expect honesty and professionalism.

This situation really opened my eyes to how difficult things must be right now for some people. It’s sad when customers feel like they can’t fully trust a delivery experience anymore because they’re worried someone may take advantage of them. I forgave the situation, but I definitely won’t forget how strange the whole experience felt.

Has this happened to anybody else before? Because honestly, this was a really bad situation.
