I’m just tired. After more than 30 years with this man, I honestly don’t know what else to say or do. Sometimes I don’t even know whether I’m coming or going anymore. I feel emotionally drained, mentally exhausted, and completely disconnected from the person who’s supposed to be my husband.
The biggest problem isn’t money. A lot of people think being a husband is all about paying the bills, but that’s only one part of marriage. A real husband knows how to love his wife, protect her emotionally, communicate with her, and make her feel safe enough to be vulnerable. That’s what I’ve wanted all these yearsโa traditional Christian husband who understands that leadership starts with love, humility, patience, and emotional connection.
Instead, every conversation feels like a battle. When I’m hurting, he doesn’t know how to comfort me. He doesn’t know how to connect with me as a human being. He hears my words, but he never really listens to my heart. It’s like talking to a wall.
What makes it even worse is that he never seems to admit when he’s wrong. Everything somehow gets turned back on me. If I bring up something that hurt me, he acts like I’m attacking him instead of trying to fix the relationship. He can be manipulative, condescending, and completely unwilling to take responsibility for his actions. That’s one of the most dangerous parts of our relationship. How can you grow with someone who refuses to acknowledge there’s even a problem?
The truth is, he’s selfish. Everything revolves around what he wants, what he feels, and what benefits him. Sometimes it feels like he’s so wrapped up in himself that there’s no room left to care about anyone else. I hate to say it, but he carries more woman energy than masculine leadership. Instead of leading with strength, wisdom, and emotional maturity, he shuts down, gets defensive, or makes everything about himself. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
People have joked with me because he’s an Aries. I’ve heard all the stories about dating that zodiac sign, but I don’t put much stock in astrology. I believe people are responsible for their own choices. Still, sometimes I can’t help but wonder if all those warnings were trying to tell me something. Whether it’s his personality or not, I don’t believe a zodiac sign determines how someone treats their spouse.
Maybe some of it goes back to his childhood. He really didn’t know his father, and maybe he never had a healthy example of what a loving husband looks like. I honestly don’t know. I’ve tried to understand. I’ve tried to give grace. I’ve tried to reach him over and over again, but it feels impossible. Every attempt to communicate turns into him feeling criticized instead of hearing my heart.
I’ve even been divorced before and have considered remarrying, hoping things could finally change. But I’m at the point where I don’t know how much more I have left to give. Marriage shouldn’t feel like carrying the entire emotional weight by yourself.
At the end of the day, I don’t need perfection. I just need a husband who’s willing to listen, learn, grow, admit when he’s wrong, and love me the way Christ calls a husband to love his wife. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Right now, though, I’m just tired.

He sounds to feminine to me…. I would have left him in year 1 ๏ปฟ ๐ ๏ปฟ
Normally when they hate their fathers, they are just like them. They may claim to be stable and not like their father or claim to be a good husband but they are angry people and they are absent in so many other ways just cause you pay bills does not mean you are a good man it just means you are paying bills. Yet they know nothing about their partner. That is why so many women chea. Not saying its a good thing, but they are the reason why women stumble.
I totally understand your painโฆ.. TRUST MEโฆ. Donโt waste your timeโฆ if he is still acting like a child after 30 years than he needs to be alone. He propbably is a mamaโs boy tooโฆ thoughs are the worst kindsโฆ. ๏ปฟ ๐ ๏ปฟ
