I don’t know if it’s just me, but I honestly think we’re heading toward a point where gaming is becoming something only people with a lot of extra money can enjoy. Every time a new console is announced, the price seems to climb higher, and I can’t help but wonder how much the PlayStation 6 is going to cost when it finally releases.

If the rumors about higher prices end up being true, I think a lot of everyday people are going to be priced out. Families are already trying to keep up with groceries, rent, insurance, gas, and everything else that keeps going up. Then we’re expected to spend hundreds of dollars on a console before we even buy a single game? That just doesn’t seem realistic anymore.

And let’s be honest. Buying the console is only the beginning. You still have to buy games that are pushing $70 to $80, pay for online subscriptions if you want to play with friends, and maybe even purchase extra storage because games are getting so huge. Before you know it, you’ve spent well over a thousand dollars just to enjoy a hobby.

Gaming used to be something people could save up for and enjoy for years. Now it feels like every generation asks consumers to spend more while getting less. Physical games are disappearing, digital stores control what you own, and subscriptions are becoming almost mandatory. It’s starting to feel like companies care more about maximizing profits than making gaming accessible.

I love PlayStation, and I’ve spent years supporting the brand. This isn’t coming from someone who hates Sony. It’s coming from someone who wants to see regular people still be able to enjoy gaming without feeling like they have to choose between paying bills and buying a console.

Maybe the PlayStation 6 will surprise us with a reasonable price. I honestly hope it does. But if it launches at a price that most working families can’t afford, I think Sony is going to lose a lot of loyal fans. There are plenty of people who simply won’t be able to justify spending that kind of money, no matter how amazing the graphics or features are.

Gaming should bring people together, not make them feel left out because they can’t afford the newest system. That’s just how I see it. What do you all think? Would you buy a PlayStation 6 if it ends up costing far more than previous consoles, or would you wait for the price to come down?
