Title: “Faith Over Feelings”
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
There are days when our feelings scream louder than our faith. We wake up anxious, overwhelmed, or even numb—emotionally drained from the demands of life. On those days, it’s tempting to let our feelings steer the course of our actions. But the Word reminds us: we live by faith, not by sight.
To live by faith means choosing to believe God’s promises, even when they contradict what we see or feel. Feelings are fleeting and often deceptive, but faith is rooted in truth. When we lean into God’s Word, we anchor ourselves to something eternal, not temporary.
Think of Peter walking on water in Matthew 14. He stepped out in faith when Jesus called, but the moment he looked at the wind and waves, fear overtook him. His feelings caused him to sink. Yet even then, Jesus reached out and saved him. This story reminds us that while we may falter, Jesus never does. His hand is always ready to lift us back up.

Living by faith also means believing in God’s presence, even when we feel alone. It’s trusting in His goodness when circumstances seem unfair. It’s obeying His Word when our emotions tempt us to do the opposite. Faith is not a denial of reality—it’s an acknowledgment that God’s truth is greater than what we can perceive.
Feelings can be indicators, but they should not be dictators. They may tell us that we’re afraid, angry, or insecure—but they must be held up against the truth of Scripture. God says, “Fear not, for I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10). He promises, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). He reminds us, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
When we walk by faith, we choose to declare what God says over what we feel. This doesn’t mean we suppress our emotions; it means we surrender them. We bring our doubts, fears, and pain to the feet of Jesus, allowing Him to realign our hearts with His truth.
Today, ask yourself: am I walking by what I see and feel, or by what God has spoken? Faith is not a feeling—it’s a decision to trust, obey, and rest in the One who never changes.
Let today be a turning point. Speak God’s promises over your life. Remind yourself that your identity, your hope, and your future are secure in Him. Even when your emotions fluctuate, God’s Word stands firm.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to walk by faith and not by sight. Teach me to trust You above my feelings and circumstances. Anchor me in Your truth, and remind me daily of who You are. Strengthen my heart when I waver, and let Your Word be the lamp to my feet and the light to my path. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
