Hi everyone, my name is Jan, and I really need to get something off my chest today. I recently had an experience with Amazon that left me not only disappointed but also questioning the standards of such a massive company that so many of us rely on.
Let me explain. I went on Amazon.com and ordered something I was genuinely excited about: the Black Radiance Foundation in the shade All-Spice. For those of you who wear makeup, you already know how frustrating it can be to find the right shade, and once you find one that works for you, it feels like a blessing. I was thrilled because I thought ordering directly through Amazon would give me security and peace of mind that I’d get a fresh, sealed product straight from the source.
Well, when my package finally arrived, my excitement quickly turned into frustration and disbelief. The foundation looked like it had already been used. I’m not exaggerating – there was barely anything in the jar, like someone had scooped out half of it before sending it to me. I sat there holding the bottle, just staring at it, thinking, How in the world does something like this even happen?
I thought maybe it was just me overreacting, but when you pay your hard-earned money for something, you expect it to arrive in new, pristine condition – not like some leftover sitting at the bottom of a drawer. And the worst part? This wasn’t from some random seller I’d never heard of. This seemed like it was coming directly from the Black Radiance storefront on Amazon, which made me feel even more cheated. If I can’t trust a direct storefront, who can I trust?
Amazon is supposed to be this mega company built on trust, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. They’re worth billions. Yet they allow things like this to slip through the cracks. It makes me feel like all they care about is the money and not the presentation or the honesty of what customers receive. To be honest, that’s a scary thought. If they can let makeup products go out half-used, what’s next?
I’m sharing this because I want to know – has this happened to anyone else here? Have you ever ordered something from Amazon, expecting new, sealed quality, only to get something that looked like it was tampered with or returned and resold? I can’t be the only one.
I know some people in the Christian community don’t believe in wearing makeup at all, and I totally respect that. Personally, I wear foundation every now and then – nothing heavy, just something to smooth things out and make me feel put together. But that’s what makes this sting even more. I’m not someone who’s constantly buying makeup in bulk, so when I do, I expect it to be special. To get something that looked used was insulting.
Honesty and integrity should be at the heart of every transaction, especially with online shopping where we can’t see or touch the product before it arrives. As customers, we’re trusting these companies to do the right thing. And when they don’t, it breaks down that trust little by little.
I plan to reach out to Amazon’s customer service, but let’s be real – half the time, they send you a generic apology and maybe a refund if you push hard enough. That’s not enough. At this point, I want accountability. I want to know how often this is happening and why quality checks aren’t stricter, especially for something as personal as makeup.
So, I’ll end this here and open it up for discussion. Am I overreacting? Has anyone else had something similar happen with Amazon – whether it’s makeup, skincare, or even something completely different? How do you handle it when companies drop the ball like this? Do you keep buying from them, or do you cut them off altogether?
I’d really love to hear your thoughts. Maybe if enough of us share these experiences, companies like Amazon will realize we’re not just faceless buyers. We’re people who value honesty, quality, and respect when we shop. Just in case you need to know where I got it buyer beware https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0845BHBTV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
Thanks for listening,
Jan
