Reflection
Jesus’ parable reminds us to always be spiritually prepared. The wise virgins represent those who live in readiness, keeping their lamps filled with oil. The foolish virgins represent those who live carelessly, not considering that the bridegroom could come at any moment.
Our “lamps” are our lives, and the “oil” represents our faith, obedience, and relationship with God. The truth is—none of us knows the exact hour of Christ’s return, but wisdom calls us to be ready daily.
Short Story
Maria had been planning for her daughter’s wedding for months. She made lists, double-checked every detail, and prepared extra supplies just in case something went wrong. On the wedding day, a sudden storm caused delays, but Maria’s careful preparation made sure the celebration went on smoothly. While others panicked, she remained calm because she had prepared.
In the same way, God calls us to live ready. Preparation in our spiritual lives keeps us steady when unexpected storms come. Like Maria, the wise virgins weren’t just waiting—they were ready.
Bible Affirmation
“I keep my lamp filled with the oil of faith, wisdom, and obedience. I am prepared for the coming of my Lord.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Help me to be like the wise virgins, ready and waiting with my lamp filled. Teach me to prepare my heart daily through prayer, obedience, and Your Word. Let me not grow careless or distracted but keep me focused on You. May my life shine brightly for Your glory until the day You return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
