I was sitting back the other day scrolling through some popular blogs, and I couldn’t help but notice something. It hit me that a lot of these gossip bloggers online act almost exactly like the way the Bible describes Satan. Now, I know that sounds like a big comparison, but hear me out—because when you really break it down, the similarities are hard to ignore.
We live in a world where gossip has become entertainment. It’s packaged as “tea,” “shade,” or “breaking news.” Bloggers rack up clicks, ads, and followers by spilling people’s private lives, past mistakes, and even flat-out lies. And while it may look fun and glamorous on the outside, what’s going on underneath is dark. If you’ve ever really paid attention to Scripture, you know Satan works the same way—he comes disguised as something appealing, but his endgame is destruction.
Lies and Half-Truths
Let’s start with the biggest one: lies. In John 8:44, Satan is called the “father of lies.” His weapon of choice has always been distortion—taking a little bit of truth and twisting it just enough to cause damage. Gossip bloggers thrive off this exact formula. They’ll take one grain of information and build a whole scandal out of it. Maybe a celebrity was seen walking with someone at a restaurant. By the time it hits the blogs, it turns into “Secret Affair Exposed!” That’s how it works. A tiny piece of reality, blown up with exaggeration, speculation, and flat-out lies. And just like Satan, once the seed of doubt or scandal is planted, it’s hard to undo the damage.
Division and Destruction
Now think about Satan’s purpose. The Bible says he came to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). He doesn’t build; he tears down. Gossip blogging has that same destructive energy. It tears down reputations, destroys relationships, and creates division between fans, families, and communities. How many times have you seen two friends or co-stars stop talking because a gossip blog published something shady? Or a marriage crumble after rumors started circulating? Gossip doesn’t just stop at entertainment—it has real-life consequences that destroy people from the inside out.
The Trap of Curiosity
Here’s the part that’s sneaky: gossip is tempting. Just like the serpent in the garden with Eve, Satan lured her with the promise of knowledge—“If you eat this fruit, you’ll know what God knows.” Gossip blogs dangle the same temptation in front of us every day with flashy headlines and clickbait titles. We know we shouldn’t click. We know it’s not our business. But curiosity pulls us in. And once we take a bite, just like Eve, we’ve already opened the door to something that doesn’t bless us.
Entertainment Masked as Light
Another dangerous similarity is disguise. The Bible says Satan can show up as an “angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). Evil doesn’t always look evil—it can look entertaining, beautiful, or even harmless. Gossip blogging hides under that same disguise. We laugh at the memes. We sip the tea. We act like it’s just jokes or “no big deal.” But the truth is, those words are hitting real people. That story that made us laugh might be pushing someone into depression. That rumor that got us talking might be the reason someone’s career tanks. The harm is real, but it’s covered up in a shiny package of entertainment.
Accuser of the Brethren
Revelation 12:10 describes Satan as “the accuser of the brethren.” His role is to keep pointing out our sins, our mistakes, and our flaws. That’s basically the job description of a gossip blogger. They pull receipts, dig up old tweets, drag out mugshots, and constantly remind the world of the worst parts of someone’s past. There’s no room for growth. No grace. No recognition that people change. Just endless accusations and judgment. And while Satan accuses to break us down spiritually, bloggers accuse to keep their audience entertained. The end result is the same—shame and condemnation.
Profit From Pain
This might be the hardest part to swallow: gossip bloggers make money off pain. Every click, every view, every ad is profit coming from someone else’s embarrassment or downfall. And the more scandalous the story, the more money rolls in. It’s eerily close to how Satan operates. His “profit” is the spread of sin and brokenness. The more chaos he creates, the stronger his kingdom of darkness gets. Gossip may look like it’s paying well right now, but what’s being stored up spiritually is a debt no paycheck can cover.
Real Life Fallout
Now, let’s get real for a second. Gossip isn’t just about celebrities or influencers. Think about your own life. Has someone ever spread a rumor about you? Said something that wasn’t true? Twisted your words? It hurts. It lingers. It changes how people look at you. And once it’s out there, even if it’s not true, you can’t fully take it back. That’s the same destruction Satan wants for all of us—to live in shame, brokenness, and division. When we support gossip bloggers, we’re not just harmlessly “staying in the loop.” We’re feeding into the same cycle of lies, accusations, and destruction that Satan has been running since the beginning of time.
Breaking the Cycle
Here’s the good news: just because gossip is everywhere doesn’t mean we have to play into it. We can choose to stop clicking. We can choose to stop spreading. We can choose to speak life instead of death. At the end of the day, the Bible reminds us that “whatever a man soweth, he will reap” (Galatians 6:7). Gossip bloggers may feel like they’re winning right now—big platforms, big checks, big names. But the seeds they’re sowing are dark, and sooner or later, the harvest comes.
For us as readers and consumers, we have to ask ourselves: Do I really want to be a part of that? Do I want to feed into the devil’s work, or do I want to stand on the side of truth, grace, and life?
If You Are Asking GOD For Wisdom Make Sure You Know What It Is
One of the most important things we can understand as people of faith is that when we ask God for wisdom, it should not be because of the benefits that might come with it. Too…

So much truth here. I couldn’t agree with you more. I think that we’re just in a time we’re now money talks and people are willing to do whatever it takes to get it even if it means losing their own life. I know what money can do to a person and I’ve seen people with money and they’re very unhappy. And the enemy is just using these people so that it can have their soul and replacement of them being famous. It’s never good to be able to give your life over just to have thing because at the end of the day you’re selling yourself to the devil.
This is so very true and a lot of the times it looks so miserable and they look very sick. Then they start to change their appearance of like somebody else because at the end of the day the enemy wants to change what you look like and change you into somebody else that you don’t. It’s all about trying to make you feel better by tearing down other people. And I feel so bad because there’s so many people out there today that are doing dirty work and hurting people. And I know a lot of famous bloggers now that have made a name out of tearing down people who really think they’re doing something great and really think they’re somebody. But when this is all said and done, they’re going to a place that isn’t lovely. It’s like you’re almost selling yourself over to the enemy. And as soon as they try to come out it’s like the enemy snatched them up and take them away from here. We have to truly pray for these people because they really believe that they’re doing something great. They’re doing it for the people to make them feel like they’re on top, but at the end of the day they’re losing their soul. This is very sad.
