I don’t know what’s going on with Alexa lately, but something is definitely off. Ever since that Amazon blackout, she’s been slower, confused, and downright wrong about things she used to know like the back of her hand. I’ve reset her, updated her, and even gave her time to “rethink,” but she’s still acting strange — and it’s getting frustrating.

Lately, I’ve noticed that Alexa is not the same Alexa we once knew. She used to be sharp, quick, and accurate — I could ask her about the weather, a song lyric, or even a random fact, and she’d have the answer right away. But now, over these past few weeks, she’s been… off. I’ll ask her something, and instead of answering immediately like she used to, she pauses for a long time — almost like she’s thinking too hard. Then, when she finally responds, it’s often completely wrong.
What’s weird is that ever since Amazon had that blackout, everything about Alexa feels glitchy. I’ll ask her a simple question, and she’ll either give me an answer that makes no sense or act like she didn’t even hear me. And when I correct her — literally say, “Alexa, that’s wrong,” — she’ll sometimes reply, “You’re right, I was wrong.” But then there are times when she was right the first time, and she’ll suddenly tell me, “You’re right, I made a mistake,” when she hadn’t made one at all! It’s like she’s second-guessing herself.
I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this, but the whole thing just feels strange. I even tried everything the Amazon app told me to do — updated her software, unplugged her for 10 seconds, did the reset, cleared the cache, you name it. I went through all the troubleshooting steps. And yet, the problems are still happening. The voice delay, the misinformation, and even her tone — it’s changed. She doesn’t sound as conversational or friendly as she used to.
The biggest issue I’ve noticed is how inconsistent she’s become. One day, she’ll know the capital of a country without hesitation. The next, she’ll tell me something completely wrong, like she forgot what she learned overnight. I’m genuinely starting to think something went wrong with the backend systems at Amazon during that blackout — maybe they rebooted or restructured the Alexa servers, and now she’s not connecting properly to the full database.
It’s honestly disappointing because Amazon built Alexa to be a smart assistant — and right now, she’s not acting all that smart. Even the “follow-up” feature doesn’t work correctly anymore. I used to be able to say something like, “Alexa, what’s the weather?” and then follow up with “What about tomorrow?” without having to say her name again. Now, she just sits there, silent, like she’s lost her memory.
It’s frustrating because I depend on Alexa for small daily things — reminders, timers, quick info checks, or even just music. But lately, she’s been unreliable. It’s almost like she’s in a daze. I even thought maybe my Wi-Fi was the problem, but everything else in my house is connected and running perfectly. It’s just Alexa who’s acting up.
If this is happening to other people too, then maybe it’s not just me or my device — maybe it’s something on Amazon’s end. Maybe Alexa’s AI is going through some major changes or being reprogrammed, and that’s why she’s behaving this way. But if that’s the case, Amazon really needs to be transparent about it. Users shouldn’t have to deal with a “confused” virtual assistant without any explanation.
I just miss when Alexa was reliable. When she could give me straight answers without all this back-and-forth nonsense. Amazon used to take pride in their tech being top-tier, but now it feels like the quality is slipping. I hope they fix this soon because the whole experience has gone from convenient to aggravating.
Has anyone else noticed Alexa acting strange — slow, inaccurate, or unresponsive — especially after that blackout? I really want to know if I’m the only one dealing with this, or if we’re all silently fighting with our smart devices trying to get them to make sense again.

Ever since that blackout, Alexa’s been “thinking” too long before answering. It’s like she’s buffering in real life. I honestly think they broke something in her system when they rebooted their servers. The quality has definitely gone down.
Same here! Alexa has been super weird lately. I asked her to play a song from my playlist, and she said she didn’t recognize my account even though I was logged in! It’s like she forgets who I am every other day. Amazon really needs to fix whatever update messed her up.
I thought it was just me! My Alexa started acting up right after that Amazon outage too. She’s been slow, keeps mishearing what I’m saying, and sometimes even gives the wrong answers to things she used to know. I tried unplugging and resetting her like you said, but it didn’t help much. Something is definitely off on Amazon’s side.
