I gotta talk about whatโs been going down in Pinellas County. Five deputies got fired for how they treated people in custody. Five! Like what is going on out here? This ainโt just one person messing up, this whole culture off balance. Iโm sitting here thinking, how do people who supposed to protect turn around and humiliate folks like that?
So they had this woman locked up, no toilet in the cell, handcuffed, needing to pee. Instead of helping, these deputies watched it on camera, took pictures, and started laughing. Sent the picture around in a group chat. Like for real? grown adults laughing at somebody in that situation? Thatโs sick. Then one of them even showed it to her. That ainโt just wrong, thatโs evil energy. Then another deputy sprayed Lysol in somebodyโs face through a food slot and tried to say it was water. Cameras donโt lie though. This right here is why folks donโt trust authority anymore.
I keep saying this people get power and forget empathy. Forget basic respect. When you treat humans like they animals, you already lost your soul. People love saying โnot all copsโ but man, if you quiet when you see stuff like this, you part of problem too. Itโs like folks stop seeing others as people soon as they in cuffs. And thatโs dangerous, because if they can do it to one person, they can do it to anybody.
The worst part ainโt even just the act, itโs the laughter. That laughter show hearts cold. Itโs proof some people wearing uniforms donโt got business being in them. And then trying to lie after the fact? Nah. Thatโs deeper than misconduct. Thatโs a system protecting itself. Thatโs rot inside leadership somewhere. Because ainโt no way five people do that and nobody around them speak up till later.
You know what scares me? Imagine how much happens we donโt even hear about. For every story that gets out, thereโs probably ten that donโt. Thatโs why community gotta stay alert. Gotta pay attention. Gotta ask questions. When leadership say โwe handled it,โ we still gotta look closer. Because cover-ups start small and spread quick when nobody holding folks accountable.
To me, this ainโt about politics, this about morals. About doing right even when nobody watching. You got a badge, that should mean something. You got a duty to protect, not play God. If you donโt got compassion for people at their lowest, you in the wrong line of work. That job ainโt for you.
Iโm glad sheriff fired them, but that ainโt enough. You canโt just keep firing folks every few months and say itโs handled. You gotta change who you hiring, what you teaching, how you supervising. Because real talk, firing is reaction โ fixing culture is prevention.
People always say โjust follow rules and you wonโt end up there.โ But thatโs a weak excuse. Doesnโt matter if somebody messed up, they still deserve basic decency. Nobody deserve humiliation. Jail is punishment enough. That right there shows character โ how you treat folks when they powerless.
I know some will say Iโm being dramatic, but nah โ this matters. Society breaking piece by piece when we normalize cruelty. Today itโs an inmate, tomorrow itโs somebodyโs kid, somebodyโs mama, somebodyโs uncle. That line getting thinner every year.
We gotta stay careful, yโall. Watch who we put in charge. Speak up when we see something off. Donโt laugh when somebody else being mistreated, because next time that somebody might be us. All Iโm saying โ human decency gotta come back in style.

The Lysol part made me so mad. Like, you playing with peopleโs health for kicks? You spraying chemicals on somebody like that? Come on now ๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
What messes me up is how they laughed. That laughter shows no empathy, no soul. Once you dehumanize people, you lose all credibility to wear a badge ๐ซ
This broke my heart. I worked in corrections years ago and seen stuff like this swept under rugs. You canโt imagine how much never gets reported. Thank you for speaking up โค๏ธ
Exactly! Folks keep saying one bad apple, but five apples spoiled the whole basket. If cameras didnโt exist, we wouldnโt even know. Thatโs the scary part ๐.
Girl, I felt every word ๐ค. Itโs like power goes to peopleโs heads and they forget humanity. Five people doing that ainโt no accident thatโs a culture problem, period.
