I’m honestly fed up with Fifth Third Bank’s horrible service.

Let me just say this, Fifth Third Bank is hands down one of the worst banks I’ve ever dealt with. Between their ridiculous rules and their rude customer service reps, I’m honestly done. How can you treat your customers this way and expect people to trust you with their money?
I’ve had it with Fifth Third Bank. I honestly think this is one of the worst banks on the planet and I don’t say that lightly. Let’s start with the fact that they have this absurd rule that when you open an account, you have to wait anywhere from 30 to 90 days before you can even connect an outside bank account. Like, seriously? You mean to tell me that I can’t transfer my own money between my own verified accounts because of some waiting period that makes absolutely no sense?
Here’s what really gets me: I opened the account in person, with a live agent. I verified all my information right there inside the branch. I gave them my Social Security number, my driver’s license, and all the identification they asked for. So why, after you’ve confirmed that I am who I say I am, do I still have to wait 30 to 90 days before I can link another account? That’s my money! It’s not like I’m trying to move someone else’s funds it’s mine.
And the excuse they give? They say it’s “policy.” Okay, but even a policy should make sense. You can’t tell people to trust you with their hard-earned money and then turn around and make it impossible to actually use their account the way it’s meant to be used.
But you know what makes it worse? Their customer service is absolutely horrible. I’ve dealt with rude chat agents, dismissive phone reps, and people who clearly do not care about helping customers. I mean, come on if you want people to store their money with your bank, shouldn’t you at least have some basic manners? The least they could do is be professional or try to resolve the problem instead of acting like you’re an inconvenience.
The last time I tried to get help, I reached out through their chat support, explained everything calmly, and simply asked, “Can you help me connect my outside bank account?” I wasn’t rude. I wasn’t yelling. I was direct, yes, but that’s because I just wanted answers. Instead of helping, the representative decided to end the chat in the middle of the conversation. No warning. No “is there anything else I can do for you?” Just disconnected me completely.
I’ve worked with plenty of companies, and I know the difference between a mistake and an attitude problem. This was straight-up disrespectful behavior. And it’s not the first time I’ve had them hang up on me over the phone too when they didn’t know how to answer a question. That’s not how you run a business, especially not one that handles people’s finances.
I want to remind everyone reading this: you don’t have to settle for poor service just because it’s what’s offered. Sometimes what looks like a good opportunity isn’t good at all. Fifth Third Bank might talk about convenience and innovation, but what’s the point if the people behind it treat customers like trash?
The moral of the story here is simple be careful who you bank with. These institutions will show you their true colors once you actually need help. It’s all smiles when you’re opening the account, but the minute you have a question or concern, you see how they really operate.
I shouldn’t have to beg for customer service when I’m the one trusting them with my money. Fifth Third Bank, if you’re reading this get it together. You can’t call yourself a trusted financial institution while treating customers like their questions don’t matter.
I gave you a chance, and all I got in return was attitude, confusion, and frustration. Never again.

They are literally the worst!!! I never been so disappointed in my life with a branch
I agree. As long as they can get your money, they’re willing to do anything. They know that you’ll take their offer and not take enough away from everybody else. However, they are really one of the worst customer service companies out there. I never heard anyone insulting or treating someone bad, but yet you want their business. Makes no sense
Girl, I had the exact same problem with Fifth Third! 😤 I couldn’t believe they told me to wait 60 days just to move my own money. Like, what’s the point of having a checking account if you can’t even use it properly?
