Sometimes God’s promises take time, but that doesn’t mean He’s forgotten. In Genesis Chapter 15, we see Abram’s faith tested as he waits for God’s promise to come true. This chapter reminds us that believing before we see is the kind of faith that moves heaven. 🌌✨

In Genesis Chapter 15, we see one of the most powerful moments in the Bible when God makes a personal promise to Abram (later known as Abraham). This chapter is all about faith, patience, and trusting that God’s timing is always perfect, even when things don’t make sense right away.

After Abram’s victory in the previous chapter, God appears to him in a vision. God tells Abram, “Don’t be afraid. I am your shield, and your reward will be very great.” But Abram is honest with God. He says, “Lord, what good are blessings if I don’t have a child? I have no one to pass them on to.” Abram had been waiting for years for the promise of a child, and it still hadn’t happened.

That’s when God takes Abram outside and tells him to look up at the night sky. God says, “Count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have.” In that moment, Abram believes what God says — and God counts Abram’s faith as righteousness. This means God was pleased with Abram’s trust, even though he couldn’t see how it would all happen.

This is one of the most important parts of the story: Abram didn’t have proof or evidence, but he believed. He chose to trust that God’s word was true. After this, God reminds Abram that He is the one who brought him out of his old country to give him this new land. Abram asks, “Lord, how will I know that I will really possess it?” So God tells him to prepare a special covenant a sacred agreement between them. Abram follows God’s instructions and sets out the sacrifice just as God says.

Then, as the sun sets, Abram falls into a deep sleep. God speaks to him in a dream, revealing what the future will look like. God tells him that his descendants will live in another land for 400 years, where they will face hardship, but in the end, they will come out free and blessed. When Abram wakes, something miraculous happens. He sees a smoking firepot and a blazing torch pass between the pieces of the sacrifice. This was God’s way of sealing the covenant confirming His promise and showing Abram that His word is guaranteed.

At the end of the chapter, God defines the borders of the land that Abram’s descendants will one day possess.

Main lesson: This chapter teaches us that real faith means trusting God’s word, even when we can’t see how it will work out. Like Abram, we must believe before we see. God’s promises never fail they may take time, but they always come true.
