A heated argument between a Black woman with curly hair and an Asian man, both yelling intensely, with the word 'RANTS' and dramatic background designs for emphasis.

As a Black man, I have to be honest about something that’s been on my mind for a long time. I love Black women. I have always loved Black women, and I honestly couldn’t see myself dating anyone else. That’s why it hurts me when I see so many women feeling pressured to change everything about themselves just to fit some trend that social media or celebrities have made popular.

Everywhere I look, I see over-the-top lip injections, excessive cosmetic procedures, dramatic nose surgeries, and hairstyles that seem more about keeping up appearances than expressing individuality. Sometimes I look at these trends and wonder if people have forgotten how beautiful natural beauty can be. The way these women look is also affecting how they act. They look down on people, but we as the regular people are confused 😂

Before anyone gets upset, I’m not saying people shouldn’t have the freedom to do what they want with their bodies. Everyone has the right to make their own choices. But I do think society has created unrealistic standards that make many women feel like they have to constantly change themselves to be accepted. What happened to simply being comfortable in your own skin?

Personally, I don’t care about having the biggest body, the most expensive hairstyle, or looking like a celebrity. What matters to me is character. I care about a woman’s heart, her intelligence, her kindness, her goals, and how she treats other people. Those are the things that last. Those are the things that build strong relationships. A person can spend thousands of dollars changing their appearance, but none of that can replace a good mind, a good spirit, and a good heart.

I think social media has convinced a lot of people that they have to look a certain way to be valuable. That’s simply not true. Some of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen weren’t trying to look like anyone else. They were confident in who they already were. To every Black woman reading this: You do not have to compete with celebrities. You do not have to keep up with trends. You do not have to change yourself to earn respect or love.

You are enough. The right person is going to appreciate you for who you are, not for how closely you resemble whatever beauty trend is popular this month. Natural beauty, confidence, intelligence, and self-respect will never go out of style.
