Y’all, I wanted to share something I found in my closet from YEARS ago, and I couldn’t believe I still had it — my original Sega Genesis game system!
I was born in 1983, so I grew up during a time when video games were completely different from what we have today. There was no downloading a game and playing it five minutes later. You had your game system, your cartridges, your controller, and you sat right there in front of the TV and played for HOURS. 😂
And yes, I still have my original Sega Genesis!
I even found a couple of my old games to go along with it. Of course, Sonic was one of my favorite games growing up. I mean, how could you have a Sega Genesis and NOT play Sonic? But there was another game that I absolutely LOVED.
Streets of Rage!
Listen, I played Streets of Rage FOREVER. 😂 I loved that game so much. I could sit there and play it over and over again and never really get tired of it. Something about walking through those streets fighting everybody that came your way had me hooked. LOL!
Finding this system brought back so many memories because gaming back then just felt different. The graphics obviously weren’t anything like what we have today, but we didn’t care! We thought those games were AMAZING.
That’s why I wanted to give y’all an inside look at my Sega Genesis and show you what the actual system looks like, especially for some of the younger people who may have heard about Sega Genesis but never actually saw one of the original consoles.
And this isn’t something I went online and bought recently just because retro gaming became popular again. This is actually MY Sega Genesis from back in the day. Somehow, after all these years, I still have it.
Now I really want to hook this thing back up.
I plan on playing it again very soon, and I already know the nostalgia is going to hit me the minute I hear those old Sega sounds and start playing one of those games again.
