Let me make it plain: lying is an abomination to God. This isn’t just a moral opinion — it’s scripture. Proverbs 12:22 tells us,
“Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are His delight.”
That means when you lie, you’re not just bending the truth — you’re standing in direct opposition to the nature of God Himself, because God is Truth. And yet, in today’s world, some people have gotten far too comfortable lying on God’s name, lying on His Word, and lying on His people — thinking they can get away with it. But let me warn you: you will pay for that deception.
What’s more disturbing is the trend among preachers, prophets, and influencers who steal revelations, visions, and teachings that don’t belong to them. They slap “God told me” on it, package it up, and present it like they birthed the thing themselves. Let me tell you — that’s not just lying. That’s stealing. And the Lord has already spoken against this.
In Jeremiah 23:30-32, God declares:
“Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that steal my words every one from his neighbor. Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the Lord, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.”
You don’t want to be the person that God says, “I am against you.” Yet that is exactly what you become when you steal someone’s word and declare that God gave it to you. This is serious business. You are lying on God — and God will not be a liar for you, for me, or for anybody.
What people don’t realize is that even the Holy Bible gives credit to the writers God inspired. The Bible doesn’t hide the vessels God used — it records them by name. Moses wrote the first five books. David wrote many of the Psalms. The prophets — Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel — their names are on the very books they penned under divine inspiration. In the New Testament, Paul starts his letters by identifying himself:
“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ…”
That’s credit. That’s respect. That’s honoring the vessel God used to deliver His word. God is not the author of confusion — and 1 Corinthians 14:33 confirms this:
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…”
Even when inspired by the Holy Spirit, each writer carried their own perspective, background, and experience. That’s why their names are there — not to glorify them, but to give clarity to the source. We also see this humility in John the Baptist. When he was baptizing crowds and preparing the way for Jesus, he could have easily soaked up the attention and claimed titles that didn’t belong to him. But he didn’t. Instead, in Luke 3:16, John said:
“I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh… He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.”
John gave credit where it was due. He acknowledged that someone greater — Jesus — was coming. He didn’t steal glory that wasn’t his. That’s the example we should follow: credit God, credit His vessels, and remain in truth. But when you steal a message, a prophecy, a teaching — and pass it off as if God gave it to you — you are walking in deception. You are not just a liar, you’re a thief, and scripture tells us plainly that “no thief shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:10).
Moreover, Galatians 6:7 gives a stern warning:
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
You can fool people. You can build a following. You can even collect offerings on a stolen word. But you cannot fool God. God is watching, and He’s keeping receipts. There will be a reckoning, because God will not let anyone lie on His name, nor will He allow His anointed to be slandered or their work stolen without consequence. At the end of the day, God will expose every false prophet, every counterfeit preacher, and every liar. And when that exposure comes, the people will see who’s real and who’s been faking it the whole time. The true vessels of God? They don’t have to steal, they don’t have to lie — because the truth stands on its own.
So here’s the message: Tell the truth. Give credit. Honor the vessel. And stop lying on God. Don’t play with His name. Don’t play with His Word. God despises a liar, and if that’s the path you’re on, it’s not too late to repent. But know this — God is watching, and His judgment is sure. Let us walk in truth, in humility, and with integrity. Because only the truth will remain — and only those who operate in it will be approved by God.
