DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR OTHERS WORK! WILL NOT THE PROPHET GIVE CREDIT TO THE HOLYSPIRIT?!
Letโs be realโGod does not play when it comes to lying. Whether it’s a small fib or a full-blown false testimony, lying is something the Lord deeply despises. The Bible doesnโt sugarcoat it either. In fact, lying is listed as one of the things God hates and considers an abomination. Thatโs a strong word, and itโs there for a reason. We live in a world where deception is common, but as believers, we have to check ourselves and see if we’re walking in truthโor partnering with the father of lies.
Leviticus 6
The Lord said to Moses: 2 โIf anyone sins and is unfaithful to the Lord by deceiving a neighbor about something entrusted to them or left in their care or about something stolen, or if they cheat their neighbor, 3 or if they find lost property and lie about it, or if they swear falsely about any such sin that people may commitโ
4 when they sin in any of these ways and realize their guilt, they must return what they have stolen or taken by extortion, or what was entrusted to them, or the lost property they found, 5 or whatever it was they swore falsely about. They must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the owner on the day they present their guilt
offering. 6 And as a penalty they must bring to the priest, that is, to the Lord, their guilt offering, a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value. 7 In this way the priest will make atonement for them before the Lord, and they will be forgiven for any of the things they did that made them guilty.โ
Proverbs 6:16-19 makes it plain:
โThese six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue… a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.โ
That means lying isnโt just wrongโitโs disgusting to God. It damages relationships, causes confusion, and opens doors to more sin.

One thing God cannot bless is a deceitful spirit. And that goes for people who lie on their brother or sister just to make themselves look good. You know those folks who spread rumors, twist stories, or say someone did something they didnโt? Thatโs not just messyโitโs dangerous. Exodus 20:16 warns, โThou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.โ Lying on someone can ruin their reputation, job, or even family. And guess what? God is watching.

Then thereโs the issue of false prophetsโpeople claiming โGod told meโ when He didnโt say a word. Thatโs spiritual manipulation. Jeremiah 14:14 says, โThe prophets prophesy lies in my name. I sent them not… they prophesy unto you a false vision.โ God hates when people use His name to deceive others. If you didnโt hear from the Lord, donโt say you did just to get attention, views, or spiritual clout. Thatโs dangerous ground.

Another overlooked form of lying is taking credit for something you didnโt do. If someone created a vision, idea, or workโand you claim it as your ownโthatโs theft and deception. It might not seem like a big deal, but it is. Thatโs a form of dishonesty that God cannot honor. Galatians 6:7 reminds us, โBe not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.โ You reap what you steal, and if you build your platform on lies, itโs only a matter of time before it falls.
So what should we do? Repent. Ask God to clean your heart. Speak truth, even when itโs hard. Be authentic. Because God honors truthโand those who walk in it will always stand stronger than those who lie to get ahead.
Letโs be people who reflect God’s truth, not Satan’s lies. Letโs uplift, not destroy. Letโs give credit where itโs due and walk humbly in what God gave us.
