Hi friends, it’s Beverly here! I wanted to share my experience with Sam’s Gyro and Seafood at 1760 Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Street South in St. Petersburg. I had heard some decent things, so I decided to try something adventurous—the Garlic Cajun Spicy Snow Crab. It came with a potato and corn, and I was really looking forward to a nice, flavorful seafood meal.

A messy takeout container with spilled sauce containing Garlic Cajun Spicy Snow Crab, potatoes, and corn.

Honestly, y’all… I was a little disappointed. First, the packaging was kind of a mess—the sauce had spilled everywhere, and it looked like it had been thrown together in a hurry. The crab itself was a good size, but the heavy sauce made it sticky and hard to enjoy.

When I took a bite, I was hoping for that nice, zesty Cajun flavor to complement the sweetness of the crab, but it tasted flat and unevenly seasoned. The potato and corn felt like afterthoughts. I know $17.99 isn’t crazy expensive, but for what I got, it just didn’t feel worth it.

As a Christian, I try to see the bigger picture in situations like this. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” I can’t help but feel like the care and thought that goes into preparing a meal matters, and this one fell short of what I would call thoughtful or careful.

I’m sharing this not just to vent, but as a heads-up for anyone thinking of trying this dish. I hope the restaurant might take it as encouragement to focus a little more on presentation and seasoning—because good food can truly bless someone’s day when it’s done with love and care.

In the end, food should be a joyful experience, and while this one didn’t hit the mark for me, I’m praying that future visits from others are better.

God bless,
Beverly
