I just need to let this out because I am sitting here stressed and frustrated watching the news again. It feels like every single time something happens, Trump cannot help but twist it, lie about it, or throw some wild blame in a direction that makes no sense. And the worst part is, people just eat it up like heโs handing out candy on Halloween. I donโt know how much more of this I can take without screaming. I know that Putin does not believe anything he says๐คฃ
The story about Tyler Robinson really set me off. Hereโs the truth: the kid was a MAGA supporter. Itโs right there in black and white. He literally dressed up as Trump for Halloween. Pictures exist. His social media shows it. Itโs not something anyone had to dig very deep for. But what does Trump do? He goes on and makes it sound like some โtrans crazed person with a gun,โ trying to stir fear, rile up people who already donโt like the LGBTQ community, and shift the entire narrative away from the obvious. And I sit here thinkingโwhy? Why lie when the facts are so clear? Why lie when it doesnโt even help his cause?
This is what drives me crazy as a Republican. I can admit that Iโve supported conservative values my whole life. I believe in small government, fiscal responsibility, strong national defenseโthe basics of what the party is supposed to stand for. But Trump? He doesnโt stand for any of that. He just lies. Constantly. About everything. About things that donโt even matter. He lies the way some people breatheโit just comes natural to him. And then when he gets caught, instead of owning up, he doubles down. He acts like the truth is just a suggestion and his version of reality is the only one weโre supposed to believe.
It makes me feel like Iโm going crazy sometimes, because so many people around me refuse to see it. Iโll say, โHey, but didnโt he just say the opposite of this last week?โ or โDidnโt the evidence prove him wrong?โ and people look at me like Iโm the one whoโs blind. Like Iโm not loyal because Iโm questioning the lies. But isnโt that exactly what we should be doing as citizensโholding leaders accountable? I thought we were the party of truth and accountability, but instead, people are worshiping this man as if heโs a savior. And for what? He doesnโt care about them. He just cares about himself.
The Tyler Robinson case is just one example, but it speaks volumes. Trump could have easily said, โYes, itโs a tragedy, yes, itโs awful,โ and moved on. But no, he had to weaponize it against a community that had nothing to do with it. Thatโs not just lying, thatโs dangerous lying. It fuels hate. It makes people angry at the wrong target. And it creates this nonstop cycle of division that we never seem to crawl out of.
And I donโt say this lightly: itโs exhausting. Truly exhausting. It feels like every single time I turn on the TV, scroll through my phone, or check the news, thereโs another Trump lie. Something about crowd sizes. Something about indictments. Something about the economy. Something about an opponent. Something about some celebrity. Itโs endless. He lies about the big things, the little things, and everything in between. And after a while, you just sit there thinkingโdoes he even know what the truth is anymore? Or does he just say whatever pops into his head and expect the rest of us to follow like sheep?
I guess what Iโm really venting about is the loneliness of it. Iโm a Republican, but I canโt ignore what I see. I canโt pretend that his lies are okay just because I happen to vote red most of the time. I feel like Iโm stuck in the middle, surrounded by people who either blindly defend him or absolutely hate him, and Iโm just here waving my hands saying, โHello? Can we talk about the fact that heโs lying again?โ And nobody seems to care. Itโs like the whole country has lost the ability to call a lie a lie.
So yeah, Iโm stressed. Iโm drained. And Iโm tired of feeling like Iโm the only one seeing the obvious. Tyler Robinson was a MAGA supporter, not some trans person Trump decided to blame. Thatโs the truth. And if we canโt even start with the truth, then where does that leave us? I donโt know anymore. All I know is I needed to say it out loud, because holding it in is driving me crazy.

Erica, I feel every word of what youโre saying. Itโs like living in an upside-down world where truth doesnโt even matter anymore. What gets me is how casual Trump is about it. Heโll say something completely outrageous, and before anyone can fact-check, heโs already moved on to the next lie. Itโs exhausting to keep up with, and I honestly think thatโs part of the strategyโoverwhelm people with so much nonsense that they donโt even know whatโs real anymore.
Iโm with you on the Tyler Robinson thing. The facts were out there from the beginning, but Trump still spun it into something else to fit his narrative. Thatโs what frustrates me the mostโitโs not just lying, itโs manipulating. He knows exactly what buttons to push with his base, and he doesnโt care how dangerous it gets as long as people rally behind him.
Youโre not alone in seeing it. A lot of Republicans are quietly admitting the same thing, even if they donโt want to say it too loud around their friends or family. Trust me, youโre not crazy for calling it outโyouโre just being honest, and thatโs more than I can say for him.
