“Today I choose to follow God’s example as His beloved child. I will walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved me and gave Himself up for me. My life is a fragrant offering to God, pleasing and acceptable in His sight.” (Ephesians 5:1–2, NIV)
Reflection and Story
There once was a woman named Claire who worked in a busy office where stress often outweighed kindness. One morning, she overheard two coworkers gossiping about her. Her first instinct was to defend herself sharply, but then she remembered the love of Christ. Instead of reacting in anger, she chose to walk in love.
She quietly prayed for her coworkers and later greeted them with warmth, not bitterness. To her surprise, her kindness softened their hearts, and one of them eventually apologized. Claire realized that when we choose love over retaliation, we mirror the heart of Christ. Just as Jesus gave Himself freely for us, we too are called to lay down pride, bitterness, and selfishness, offering up love as a sweet fragrance to God.
Our daily choices, even in small things, can either spread love or stir strife. Walking in love doesn’t mean weakness—it means strength rooted in Christ’s sacrifice. Every time we choose forgiveness, compassion, or patience, we are living as dearly loved children who reflect their Father’s heart.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me Your beloved child. Teach me to walk in the way of love, just as Jesus walked. Help me to let go of anger, selfishness, and pride, and instead offer up my life as a living sacrifice, pleasing to You. May my actions today reflect Your heart and bring the fragrance of Christ into every place I step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
