So, here’s the situation: there’s this woman who says she sees her dead relatives standing at her door. On top of that, she curses a lot, but at the same time, she claims she knows Jesus. That raised a real question for me—what does the Bible actually say about stuff like this? Is she really seeing her family? Is that from God? And how does her cursing tie in with her claim of following Jesus?

Let’s break this down with what the Bible teaches.

1. Seeing Dead Relatives – Is That Really Them?

The Bible makes it clear that when people die, they don’t come back to visit us at our doorsteps. Ecclesiastes 9:5 says, “For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing.” In other words, once someone passes, they’re not roaming around popping up at people’s houses. Hebrews 9:27 also says people die once and then face judgment—there’s no mention of them coming back to check on us.

So if someone is “seeing” their dead relatives, it isn’t really those family members. Scripture warns that Satan and his demons can disguise themselves to trick people. 2 Corinthians 11:14 says, “Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” That means spirits can pretend to be someone you once loved just to deceive you. That’s why God warned His people not to consult the dead (Deuteronomy 18:10–12).

2. The Issue With Cursing

Now, let’s talk about the cursing part. The Bible straight up says believers should be careful with their words. Ephesians 4:29 tells us, “Let no corrupt talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up.” And James 3:10 says, “Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”

So if someone claims to follow Jesus but is constantly cussing and tearing people down with their mouth, that doesn’t match up with what Scripture says about how a Christian should speak.

3. Saying You Know Jesus vs. Actually Following Him

Here’s the big one. Just because someone says “I know Jesus” doesn’t mean they’re truly walking with Him. In Matthew 7:21–23, Jesus Himself said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father.”

Real faith shows itself through change. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Christians still slip up—we’re not perfect—but if someone’s life is ruled by cursing, confusion, or strange spiritual encounters that don’t line up with Scripture, that’s a sign they might need to truly repent and seek Jesus on a deeper level.

4. How Should We Respond?

The Bible doesn’t tell us to attack people who are caught up in this kind of thing. Instead, it calls us to pray for them and gently guide them toward truth. Galatians 6:1 says, “If someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently.” And James 5:16 reminds us that prayer is powerful and effective.

If this woman is truly troubled, she may be under spiritual oppression. She doesn’t need judgment—she needs prayer, deliverance, and encouragement to turn fully to Jesus.

5. Bottom Line

The dead don’t return to visit the living. When people think they see their relatives, it’s more likely a deceptive spirit trying to confuse them. And while anyone can say they “know Jesus,” the real test is whether their life and words reflect Him. The Bible tells us to test every spirit (1 John 4:1) and to cling to the truth that’s in Christ.

Prayer for Discernment and Protection

“Lord Jesus, You are the light that drives out all darkness. I pray for discernment to see truth and not be deceived by lying spirits. Cover us with Your blood and surround us with Your angels for protection. Bring peace to every troubled heart, deliver those oppressed by the enemy, and let Your Holy Spirit guide us into all truth. In Your mighty name, Amen.”

This is a heavy subject, but it’s real. People wrestle with spiritual things every day, and not everything supernatural is from God. The best thing we can do is lean on Scripture, stay prayed up, and walk in the truth Jesus gave us.
