Listen to “If You Know GOD A Head Covering Is Required” on Spreaker.
This morning God really revealed something deep to me, something that just hit my spirit hard and wouldn’t let go. I was sitting there, talking to the Lord like I always do, and I asked Him about head coverings. I’ve read about them before, I’ve seen different interpretations, but today it was like the Holy Spirit broke it down in a way that made everything make sense. It’s not about looking religious—it’s about being ready and covered when you’re walking in your purpose and constantly communicating with God.
Here’s what I realized: head coverings are for women who stay in prayer, who prophesy, who listen to God and speak His words to others. It’s for those of us who don’t just pray once in a while but live in constant communication with Him. You can’t be praying and prophesying one minute and disconnected the next—you have to stay in position. And if God is using you, if you’re walking in that spiritual authority, then it only makes sense that you would want to stay covered under His order.
I started thinking, if I’m constantly talking to God throughout the day, if He’s constantly revealing things to me or giving me messages for others, then why wouldn’t I keep my head covered? It’s like saying, “Lord, I’m available for service.” You wouldn’t show up to work without your uniform if you’re on duty, right? So if I’m a woman of God who’s on call 24/7 in the spiritual realm, my head covering is my uniform—it’s my sign of readiness and protection.
Now, I know some people might see it as old-fashioned or unnecessary. They’ll say, “God looks at the heart, not the outer appearance.” And yes, that’s true—but obedience is also a part of the heart. The Bible is clear that head covering was a symbol of respect, honor, and divine order. It represents something spiritual that goes beyond what the eye can see. When you put that covering on, you’re saying, “God, I recognize Your authority over me, and I choose to walk in submission to it.” That’s not weakness—that’s strength. That’s power in humility.
What God showed me this morning is that covering your head isn’t just about tradition—it’s about spiritual alignment. When you’re covered, you’re declaring that you belong to Him. It’s a form of protection from spiritual attack because when you’re praying, interceding, or speaking prophetic words, you’re stepping into a spiritual battlefield. You need that protection. You need that layer between you and the enemy who’s always waiting for an open door. The head covering, in that sense, is a shield. It’s your crown of obedience.
God reminded me of that verse, “You will know them by their fruits.” That means the life you live should reflect who you belong to. If I’m bearing good fruit—walking in peace, patience, love, and obedience—then part of that fruit is showing that I’m yielded to Him in all ways, even in how I present myself. The crown I wear isn’t about fashion—it’s about function. It’s a sign that I’m under the covering of the Most High God.
There’s something powerful that happens when a woman covers her head to pray. It’s like she’s stepping into the secret place with authority and reverence. It’s her way of saying, “Lord, I’m here, speak to me.” And in return, God covers her—He fills her with wisdom, He strengthens her, He shields her from confusion. When I put mine on, I feel that peace. It’s almost like the noise of the world quiets down a little bit, and my spirit becomes more sensitive to what God is saying.
So, sisters, if you know God has called you to pray, to prophesy, or to just be in constant communion with Him, take that seriously. Don’t let the world tell you it’s unnecessary or outdated. Covering your head isn’t about rules—it’s about relationship. It’s about saying, “Lord, I belong to You, and I’m ready whenever You need to use me.” If God is speaking to you all day long, if you’re talking to Him, interceding for others, or just walking in that closeness, then that’s your confirmation—you’re one of His chosen vessels, and vessels need to stay covered.
This morning’s revelation reminded me that my covering isn’t just fabric. It’s a reminder that I’m walking in spiritual authority and submission at the same time. It’s a sign that I’m available to serve, to listen, to speak what He says. So if God has you in that space—if you know you’re called to pray and hear from Him often—then don’t take it lightly. Wear your covering. Wear your crown. Stay ready. Because God wants His daughters not just to look covered—but to live covered.
