Man, I just don’t get it. A’ja Wilson is one of the coldest players in the WNBA right now. She plays for the Las Vegas Aces, and honestly, she’s elite in every part of the game. She can rebound, hit from the 3-point line, and her defense? Straight up kick butt. She’s proven herself over and over again, taking her team to championships and getting rings while doing it. So why hasn’t Jordan picked her up for his brand yet?
I get it — Jordan’s real careful about who he puts on his team. He took years to build that brand and doesn’t just let anybody rock the Jumpman. But come on now, Carmelo Anthony had a Jordan deal for years. Dude doesn’t even play anymore, and even when he did, he wasn’t exactly elite like that. He had talent, sure, but he got into a lot of off-court drama, messing around on his wife and all that. Yet he got to represent Jordan for a long time. Meanwhile, here’s A’ja, who’s all about her game, stays focused, and has done nothing but win — and she’s still waiting for that official Jordan nod? That just don’t make sense to me.
Yeah, I know she already got a shoe deal, but shoe deals don’t last forever. Contracts run out, brands switch up. So it’s not like Jordan couldn’t step in and say, “Yo, A’ja, we want you. You’re the next face of the female Jordan line.” That would make total sense. She’s dominant, she’s respected, and she plays the game the way it’s supposed to be played — with heart and hustle.
And you know who else could fit that mold? Paige Bueckers. Yeah, she’s a rookie, but she’s got that same killer mentality Jordan had. Smooth on the court, confident, and clutch when it matters. People might say her personal life could make Jordan hesitate, but honestly, that shouldn’t matter at all. What matters is what she does on that court. Personal life is spiritual — it’s between them and God. Basketball is about skill and grind, and Paige got that.
So really, what’s the holdup? You got these women out here balling like legends, but the recognition still comes slow. Jordan’s brand could use more faces like A’ja — strong, hardworking, and real about their craft. She’s already a Jordan-type player without even being signed. Maybe it’s time they finally make it official.
A’ja Wilson really is that player — consistent, dominant, and humble. She’s carried the Aces, proven herself as a leader, and still doesn’t get the full recognition she deserves. It’s wild how Jordan Brand seems to move slow when it comes to picking up elite female athletes, especially ones who’ve already shown they got the stats and the influence to match.
You’re right about Melo too — nothing against him, but if he could get a deal back in the day, then A’ja definitely should’ve been next in line. She’s a walking highlight reel and a perfect example of what it means to represent the game with integrity. And Paige Bueckers? Facts. That girl has that fire, that Jordan energy. If it’s really about the game, both of them should already be rocking Jumpman gear.
